DELEINE AND INDIGO FOLLOWED CASSIA INTO THE ROOM, the room where the goblet of fire was being held. Deleine couldn't shake the odd feeling she had watching students just a year or two older than herself practically signing their lives away. It wasn't merely a jolly game for the lot of them to enjoy—it was a matter of life and death. Cassia led the girls over to Hermione, who was engrossed in a book. Deleine offered a polite greeting, while Indigo sat down quietly beside them.

"Have you spotted Mad-Eye?" Cassia whispered conspiratorially.

"I've been steering clear of him," Deleine replied, glancing around nervously. "Every time I'm near him, he gives me this really unsettling look. The first night we got here, he kept staring at me. It was peculiar. I've been avoiding eye contact with him ever since."

"She's suspicious of everyone," Indigo added in a low voice.

"I'm not suspicious, just thoroughly creeped out. That's all," Deleine replied, ending the discussion. She watched her ring tumble to the ground and quickly bent to retrieve it, but her attention was diverted by the uproar of older boys cheering. Rising, she noticed them shoving Cedric toward the Goblet of Fire. Intrigued, she joined the throng surrounding the Goblet, finding herself at the front as Cedric placed his name inside.

The sound of applause filled the air, and Cedric glanced around, spotting Deleine with her arms folded. He approached her, but she stepped back, her expression unreadable. "Move," she said firmly to an older boy blocking her path. He raised his hands defensively and stepped aside, allowing her to exit the crowd. She walked past Harry and Ron without a glance.

The girls watched her return, her sigh heavy with frustration. "What's the matter?" Hermione whispered to Cassia as Deleine sat down beside them.

"Deleine doesn't think Cedric should've put his name in the Goblet of Fire," Cassia explained. "She's worried he'll lose more than just the tournament."

"I never said I had no faith in him, Cassia. I said it's dangerous," Deleine clarified, her voice tinged with concern.

"I can understand why anyone would think that way. It's the more logical mindset, really," Hermione responded, offering Deleine a reassuring smile. Deleine returned a small grin before being distracted by another round of boys cheering. She turned to see the twins making their grand entrance.

"And what's all this about?" Deleine asked, raising an eyebrow.

Hermione sighed and rolled her eyes. "The twins think they've found a way past the age requirements so they can put their names in the Goblet."
