Tower of Fate
Salem, MassachusettsDr. Fate and Klarion were going at it but Wally, being a person of science rather than magic, was proving to be a poor host for Nabu. It was all he could do to dodge and block Klarion's attacks. The Witch Boy fired a demon-headed spell at the Lord of Order and when he blocked it shot another at his exposed back. Nabu was unable to block it in time and was knocked back. Klarion followed up with a rapid fire attack that Fate could barely shield himself from. When Nabu's shield broke under the strain Klarion started breathing magic fire at Fate and, when that proved ineffective, fired off spells one after another eventually hitting him. Nabu hit the roof of his tower hard and was nearly knocked unconscious.
"You're out of practice Nabu," Klarion gloated, "and that pathetic host body? Zero affinity for the mystic arts." He raised his arms, summoning a thundercloud to rain down red lightning on Fate. Fate put up a shield, but it was all he could do to maintain it under Klarion's relentless assault. "Ooh rainbow power."
"Mrow," Teekl said, getting the attention of its master.
"I am paying attention you stupid cat," he retorted, annoyed with his anchor.
"Meow."
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm winning," Klarion motioned to Fate's predicament.
"Meow."
"Boulder? What boulder," Klarion asked and turned around. "Oh." A boulder big enough to crush both Lords flew at him from seemingly no where and hit him dead on, and squashing him completely. With Klarion's concentration elsewhere the thundercloud disappeared and Fate was able to regain his bearings and finish the fight.

Mount Justice
Happy Harbor, Rhode IslandThe team was in the mission room on call with Batman for a debrief.
"... and then a boulder came out of nowhere and squashed Klarion flat," Wally finished. "I know it wasn't Fate cause he was busy blocking that lightning. The only reasonable explanation is that you sent someone after us."
"No one from the League followed you, and unlike the time with AMAZO I'm not even a hundred percent certain of who helped you."
"But that does mean you have an idea," Robin asked his mentor.
"A few," he admitted, "but until I get more information it's nothing concrete. As it is I don't even know how that boulder was thrown." Batman looked at Wally, "were there any marking or evidence of contact that might have suggested how?"
Wally thought for a second, "I think whoever threw it has super strength; I saw a set of handprints pressed deep into the stone."
"That narrows it down, and I'm now fairly certain about who did it, but I'd like to cross a few more names off the list to be sure."
"Who all could it have been?" Robin asked.
"Icon comes to mind," Batman answered, and an image of the hero was pulled up on the holoscreen. "Rex Tyler was in the area as well. As a member of the Justice Society he could have seen what was happening and moved to help out who he believed to be an old friend."
"Anyone else?" Wally asked.
"One or two," Batman answered. "I'm guessing you aren't going to let this go."
"You guess right," Artemis spoke up.
"In that case I'll let you know when I'm sure about who threw that boulder. And if there was nothing else..." he waited to see if anyone would speak up. When no one did he curtly said, "Batman out," and the screen shut off.
"And now we wait," Aqualad said.

Gotham City
"So who do you really think did it?" Robin asked after Batman shut off his communicator. He looked at his protégé and Robin could see his eyebrow rise even under the cowl. "What? I know what it looks like when you're keeping something to yourself."
"I wasn't lying to them about anything Robin. I'm really not one hundred percent sure who threw that boulder," Batman defended.
"But you do have a firmer idea as to who it could have been than you let on don't you?"
"I'd prefer to keep that information to myself for now. If they decided to not reveal themselves then I won't tell the team until they are comfortable with the idea of their name becoming known, when or if that happens." Batman's tone of voice let Robin know that the discussion was over. As the duo continued their patrol Batman made a mental note to call one of his friends when they returned to the Batcave.

So this is the first chapter of my new story, and I'm guessing you guys already have an idea as to who saved Wally. If you don't then don't bother asking me as I will neither confirm nor deny any inquiries about my new character. Now I can't say for sure this wasn't inspired by someone else's work, all I can say is: I don't think it is. For those of you who are worried about the length of this chapter I want you to know that the chapters after this one should be my full length of around 2000 words. That's all for now, as always comment about errors, give me a vote if you like it, and BBFN!
