Superboy, Wally, and Robin were sitting in the living area of the Cave doing their own things when Superboy sat up on full alert.

"What's up?" Robin asked, having seen his friend's sudden change in demeanor.

"Sonic boom. From the ocean."

Robin looked at Wally, then back at Superboy. "That could just be a jet from the military or something, doing routine training," Wally told him.

"Doesn't sound like a plane though. Smaller. Faster. I can hear a heartbeat."

Whatever they were about to say was cut of as M'gann called them, "guys get out here we need help!" The guys looked at each other before taking off to the main entrance.

Right as they exited the Cave a blue blur flew past them, over the water, a wave following a full three seconds behind it, showcasing its incredible velocity. They spotted the bioship attempting to catch up, but unable to gain enough speed.

"M'gann we're outside the Cave come get us!" Robin told her as she hadn't disconnected the psychic link.

The bioship changed course and landed in front of the three teens. The back opened up and they saw Artemis waiting for them, "get in already, we don't have time to dawdle." She turned around as they ran up the ramp into the ship, and after the back closed once again it took off.

"What are we looking at?" Robin inquired.

"We don't know," Artemis answered. "This thing just appeared out of nowhere while we were practicing."

"She's getting quite good at piloting bioship," M'gann told them, making Artemis smile slightly at the praise.

As they took their seats Robin continued his inquiry, "did it engage?"

Artemis shook her head, "no. It just showed up and took off. It won't answer any hails or attempts at communication."

"What about M'gann's telepathy?" Superboy questioned.

"Tried that," M'gann answered, "several times. Either this thing's inorganic or it's psychically blocking me, I can't tell which, but either way it doesn't look like that's an option."

"Wally. Superboy. Can either of you see anything?" Robin asked.

"No dude, I can clearly identify something until about Mach 2, at around Mach 2.2 I start losing details, and by Mach 3 all I see is a blur of color. Whatever this thing is it's moving even faster than that."

Superboy's head shake served as his answer.

Robin sat back in his seat, "then all we can do is try and catch this thing. M'gann are the weapons systems online?"

"Yes, but do you really want to shoot at something that we haven't identified as hostile?"

"No I don't, but we might not have a choice and I'd rather be safe than sorry. So keep the weapons hot but don't shoot until I give the word."

"Understood."

They continued to chase the object all over Happy Harbor airspace for several minutes without making much progress. Every time they got close to identifying it the thing would spin around and head in another direction. It would also perform complex aerial maneuvers, almost as if, "it's toying with us," Robin spoke up, his face scrunched in confusion.
