RILEY WALKER WAS AWOKEN TO A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT and a loud bang sound.
Their eyes shoot open as they grab the cold metal they're being laid on. "What the hell- Where am I?!" They scream.
The two doctors standing on each side of the table jump backwards. "You- You're supposed to be dead!" The doctor on the left states
"Yeah thanks, captain obvious." Riley rolls their eyes, as they try to sit up.
"Your heart isn't even beating- You're not breathing. How are you awake right now?!" The other doctor adds.
They scoff. "Yeah yeah, I'm dead but alive, now can I not be strapped to a table, maybe? And also, you wanna let me go? I have people to see, that aren't coroners."
The doctor on Riley's left removes the straps, allowing the teen to sit up.
"Uhm, but before you leave, ma- sir?" The left doctor stutters.
"Get on with it, Stevens." The other doctor grumbles.
"Uh, yeah, sorry- But your skin is uhm..." The doctor who Riley now knows as 'Stevens' mumbles.
"What about my skin? Do I have a scar or something?" Riley asks, tilting their head slightly.
"Uhm no, it's- it's green." Stevens admits, scratching the back of her neck.
"Okay, cool, I'll put my hood on. I know where I'm going, it's fine." They roll their eyes as they climb off of the table.
"I- Okay I guess." Stevens laughs awkwardly.
"Try not to die again, kid. I don't get paid enough for this." The other coroner warns as she ties her hair into a bun.
Riley laughs and waves at the two coroners. "I'll try. No promises though, a lot of people wan' my head in a basket."
"Well we'd rather not see you here, in this circumstance again for a while. Cya, kid." Stevens smiles and waves.
After leaving the coroner's office Riley pulls their hood over their head. "Ugh, it's cold." They mumble under their breath.
After a fifteen minute jog, they finally arrive at Ava's front door.
"She's gonna kill me." They laugh under their breath as they knock on the door.
The door creaks open, revealing Henry. "What the hell?!" He whisper-yells as he pulls Riley in the house by the collar of their coat.
"Adam! Get your ass down here!" He yells, looking up the staircase.
"What do you want? It's too early for you to be yelling." Adam groans, grabbing his mug and walking down the stairs.
His eyes dart from Henry to Riley. "How in the hell? I watched you die!"
Henry throws his hands in the air and yells. "We both did! I'm just as confused as you are!"
Riley laughs. "Okay, I know you're both confused, but we should probably hide me before Ava gets home.. Or make me look less, uh- Y'know-"
Adam cuts them off. "Dead?"
They nod. "Yeah, that works. Do either of you have any makeup skill, like at all?"
Henry's eyebrows furrow, but his eyes quickly light up. "No, but Emily does that SFX stuff!"
The older boy rolls his eyes. "Love the enthusiasm, Hen, I do, but Emily hates everyone who isn't Jack, or Cristina."
