Cold..

That's what it was. The ground covered in snow and thin ice. The winter seemed to be especially hazardous this year. Anything that wasn't meant for the cold froze to death.

The harsh wings blew against the trees as you trekked through the snow. The winds didn't bother you, due to the clothes you made for yourself. Your hands were covered with the gloves of your deceased father.

The air was chilling and cold, that even your eyelashes would freeze. You on the other hand, were perfectly fine from the harsh conditions of the weather.

You followed the light of fire, not to far from your location. It seemed blazing despite the cold weather. You knew it had to be some type of magic at work. You hurried along down the hill and into the tree filled valley.

The trees were tall and shielded quite well from the weather. It was perfect for a camp of people who were doing such wrong things. You slowly crept toward the camp, and you scowled.

Children of all races, locked in cages either to small or to tight for them. They were crying but one of the guards kept hitting the cages and telling them to 'shut up'.

It broke your heart, seeing these poor children crying. They were shivering and wet, and it seemed some of them were on the brink of death. You waited till the guard turned back around.

Once he did, you stabbed him through his back and covered his mouth. His grunt of pain, silenced by your glove. The children looked at you in fear, backing away into their cages.

You pulled your scarf down and gave them a warming smile. This seemed to calm them, as you started unlocking their cages and letting them out quietly. You gave them your cloak and spare clothes you had in your travel bag.

As soon as they were all out, you slowly led them away. You were carrying three babies in a sling, and a disabled kid in your arms. You waited until you all were far enough, before running like your lives depended on it. Which it did.

Once the light of the fire was to far to see you let the kids rest. They were huffing a bit and curled under you for warmth. Which you didn't mind, as you wrapped your large fur cloak around you and the kids.

It was an half an hour before you all started to move again. Keeping them with you, you started on a journey with them. It took you four days to finally track them so it would take two days to go back.

Though that was short lived after a few minutes when shouting was heard. This made you and the kids, kick into a sprint. The footsteps of men and horses getting closer. The kids were struggling to stay quiet and the baby was slightly crying.

You had to think fast if you wanted them to be safe. Though before you could think, you all were surrounded. As a last resort, you covered them with your body and cloak. Preparing yourself for the worst to come. You would die before you let them take these children again.

The children buried their faces into you, their savior. Just as the men were about to step forward, an arrow shot through the leaders head. It was silent.

No one dared to move, not even the children. A few seconds passed of deafening silence ringing in the air. More arrows then rained down, the men screaming in agony. You covered the children with your body still, not wanting them hurt.

An arrow shot into your leg, but you didn't budge. It was once again silent but this time it wasn't as intense. It was worse.

The area seemed to be still as the air turned sour and hard to breathe in. A shadow loomed over you and the children, a large Orc standing over you. She was muscled and had tattoos over her toned body. You would be drooling if not for the situation.

When she tried to grab one of the children, you pulled the child closer to your chest. You mimicked the growl of a dragon, to warn her off. The other orc's, now showing themselves, were surprised at this. The orc woman raised an eyebrow at this, before reaching again.

She picked all of you up in her arms and the orc's started walking again. You just held tight to the children, ignoring the pain in your leg from the arrow...
