It almost feels off to just be sitting around with the people next door outside as the moon starts to rise. The air is full of tension.
I've been keeping my little secret, something I'm easily great at. Although that tends to apply differently with the people that has gone to know me deeper.
They had seen the message that Eaton sent from my phone. And I thought it was going to be fine, but that's when I realize there were going to be a slight problem with this specific idea.
Eaton isn't missing.
Ella might be.
"They said other than the research party, we'll try to reach Eaton as soon as possible, if we do reach him chances we might as well find leads to get to Ella." Kai said.
And Eaton doesn't know where Ella is.
I'm feeding them a lie that Eaton is partly missing, when he's not, and then maybe by finding him we'll get to find Ella.
Which most likely isn't going to be true.
I should tell someone in order to not waste everyone's efforts trying to find someone who isn't missing,
but I need to take what Eaton said into consideration too, and not to mention if I suddenly spill the truth now it will be ten times more suspicious as of why I hadn't just said it earlier when I got the chance too.
Shit.
What did I get myself into?
That's when I finally realize how I'm losing my brain as I'm blanking, something I don't do. So I immediately snap back to reality, before anyone noticed.
"None of his family would fucking respond." Alaric sais, irritated.
"As expected. I've known to realize his family are more on the private side." Harland points out.
Now that I think about it, out of all of us Eaton's family was barely around us, or even never. "But if he isn't missing then where else would he go?" Kenna bitterly stated.
Eaton might've sent me that message but until now he still hasn't given any response to anyone, and I could tell that people are starting to think that something might've happened to him too.
That son of a bitch. Didn't I tell him to get a new phone as soon as possible.
I want to tell them to focus on finding Ella instead, but what do I say when they ask why?
That's when I notice Kai going inside the house and I thought about it for a second before deciding If I should talk to him, and my brain said yes. So I stood up and told my friends I'd be right back before going in to the house.
"Hey, Kai." I muttered as I slowly walk up to him, and he turns to me obviously wondering why I'm here. "Sorry for just walking in the house." I let out a small chuckle, and his lips curved a little.
I watch him as he grabs a glass cup and pours bourbon into it. "No need for apologies. Though why did you walk in?"
I finally noticed his australian accent.
"There's something I need to say."
He swallows the bourbon before responding, "What is it?" before pouring a small amount on another glass cup and then handing it to me.
And I can't ignore how Kai's attitude has changed, I can tell he's hiding something just from the look on his face.
So I tilt my head, showing that I'm finding him suspiscious.
