Ya'aburnee

Prologue

I heard sirens go off and people running all around the military base. I was told by my father to stay put and wait for him in our small dormitory. He came in running a few seconds later, interrupting my train of thoughts. "Y/n grab everything you deem important, quickly!" He said, empathizing the 'quickly' at the end. "Yes sir!" I replied as I grabbed a few clothes, and items important to me. He then grabbed me by my arm and started pulling me towards the exit. I heard gunshots all over the hallway as we exited the building, only to be met with a horrifying sight. People, no not people. Rotten corpses moving and people shooting at them. "What is happening?" I asked. I didn't get a reply as he dragged me into a car, unknown to me. "Sir, what's going on?" I asked again. "Doesn't concern you." He said as he rushed the car away from the only place I knew as home. My father is the CO (commanding officer) of one of the biggest military units in the US. He was ordered to move him and his unit into Atlanta, Georgia a few months ago. He also had to take me with him. I never got an explanation on why we had to come here but from the state of this place, it's probably the rotting corpses. We saw a lot of people running around as we drove through the city, with no sign of escape for them. "Where are we going?" I asked. My father never accepted how i wasn't born a boy. He wanted a boy, to make him like how he is. He got me, a girl. I had to prove i'd be enough of a human to also be in the army, so that meant i have been trained to simple combat. "To France." He said. "Why?" I asked eagerly for answers. He didn't answer as we drove out of the city. Hours passed as we started running out of gas. "Where are we?" I asked, exhausted and scared. "Mert County. Almost at a family farm." "Why?" "I know the man that lives there, he'll give us shelter for the night." I didn't ask further questions as we pulled up to a huge farm that had a sign saying 'The Greene Family Farm welcomes you'.
