He spends his days regretting.

Because of WW2 Japan doesn't have a military anymore.He has a 'self-defense force.'The bare minimum of a 'army.'

So to fill his days,he spends them like most elders.By thinking about his life.He's now at the point where,if you're lucky.He'll tell you about all the terrible things he had done to his loved ones.

And how much he hates himself for it.
