Quick Note: And also, technically a follow up of the Halloween Chapter (I cut out when Ronnie and Max showed the footage to Phoebe and Trevor because it was kinda "useless" and didn't move the plot along, but if anyone wants to read of what could have been, just say so and I'll publish it!)
The Next Morning
In Ronnie's Mind
It was another one of Ronnie's weird visions, but this one felt different—more slippery than the one she had the day before. Suddenly, a blinding light hit her, and she found herself facing a creepy figure standing in the midst of all this brightness. The figure was tall and thin, with crazy hair that floated around like it had a mind of its own. Its skin was this unsettling salmon pink, faintly shimmering, and its eyes had this intense, evil red glow. "You will never be loved," the figure sneered, its voice oozing disdain. The words echoed in the emptiness around her, sending a chill down her spine. In that moment, Ronnie felt a rush of determination and unexpectedly yelled, "You're wrong!" "You'll spend the rest of your life a slave to others," the figure shot back, its voice thick with certainty and scorn. With each word, the air around her felt heavier, making it tough to stick to her resolve. She battled against the overwhelming weight of the vision, desperate to break free from the grim fate it seemed to promise her.
Ronnie woke up from that nightmare of a vision, scared it might actually mean something, though she tried to shake it off since her visions were never really accurate. "Ronnie! We're late!" Max called from the bathroom, his voice a mix of urgency and annoyance. "Okay!" Ronnie snapped back. She jumped out of her crummy bed and started digging through her drawers for an outfit. Luckily, she found what she wanted: an orange Hawaiian shirt paired with denim shorts. "Are you ready yet?" Max complained. "Yeah, sis," Ronnie said, snatching her backpack and climbing out the window. "Let's hurry before Dad wakes up," Max said, a little nervous. "For sure," Ronnie agreed, landing on her feet after jumping from the tree branch.
Short story shorter, Ronnie wasn't late (this time) for school and basically slipped into the classroom just as the bell rang, totally embarrassing herself in front of everyone. "You good, Ron? That looked like a rough fall," Phoebe said, reaching out to help her up. "Oh crap!" Ronnie exclaimed, surprised, and ended up landing on her back because she didn't see Phoebe there. "What's up, Ron?" Podcast said, helping her get back on her feet. "Hey, Podcast," she responded, clearing her throat. Phoebe stood there awkwardly, eyeing them as they chatted, finally clearing her throat to grab their attention again. "Oh fuck, I totally forgot! Um, Podcast, this is Phoebe. Phoebe, this is Podcast," Ronnie stammered, awkwardly introducing them to each other. "Nice to meet you, Ron told me A LOT about you," said Podcast, awkwardly shaking Phoebe's hand. "Is that so?" Phoebe said, staring at Ronnie with an eyebrow raised. "Yeah, let's just stop keeping the class waiting," said Ronnie, trying to stop the subject as she speed walked to her seat. "Simp," said Podcast under his breath. "Shut up," groaned Ronnie while shaking her head. Looks like her morning started out not so bad. Maybe?
Author's note: I rushed too much on this chapter, sorry. I've just been dealing with my school shit and mental health lately, so I've been taking a long time writing chapters, but thank you to everyone who has patience. And don't worry, I won't be stopping writing chapters anytime soon!
