Chapter 6-it's not over

Hailey's pov
I wake up at 6am and a get a text from Lucy
'Hey do want to grab coffee I know a little spot' I like Lucy she seems to really enjoy what she does they all do maybe it's just something that happenes to a unit when you've been trough so much but I feel like it's been a long time since I've seen anyone as happy as them to be doing this job

'Sure I would love to just text me the address and time and I'll meet you there' she responds with an address and tells me to meet her at 7:30am so I stay in bed cuddling with Jay till about 6:45 then I tell him about my plans to meet up with Lucy
"Ok I have to get up now I'm meeting Lucy"
"Why" he asks

"I don't know she asked me to meet her so I am"
"Again I ask why"
"Because I'm curious also I like her she reminds me of someone"
"Who" I smile a little bit

"Ok detective what's with all the questions huh, and she reminds me of me before everything it's nice" he smiles and nods then gets out of bed and starts getting ready himself so I ask "what are you doing"
"Coming with you"

"Jay I'm fine nothing is going to happen"
"I know but I will wait in the car and watch your back from a distance"
"Your not take no for an answer are you"
"Absolutely not"
"Ok fine"

"So about the whole pregnancy thing when are we going to tell people"
"Well I want to make it to about 20 weeks before we really tell anyone if we can or at least till I start showing but Voight knows"
"When did you tell him"

"Um before I told you" I look trim back to the mirror and continue to put on some light makeup till I see him behind me and feel his arms wrap around my stomach
"Mhm so you thought it would be best if Voight knew before me" he questions

"No it just kinda came out" I say and lean back on him I don't know if it's everything that happened with us or if it hormones or finally finding someone that loves me for me but recently I've just been loving Jays touch the sound of his voice it all just brings me into this relaxed feeling like I'm completely and utterly safe we both finish getting ready and I order a green tea instead of a coffee and sit at a table and wait for Chen she arrives at 7:35 and she looks around and finally sees me she smiles and comes over and sits down

"Hi sorry I'm late I had to break up a little argument on my way here"
"Oh is everything ok"
"Yeah just Tim and..." she pauses then continues "I guess best way to put it is my daughter we're arguing about something stupid I don't even remember about what so"

"You have a kid" I ask
"Basically yeah um not biologically but she's like a daughter to me so"
"Ok so why'd you want to meet"
"Well I had some questions"
"Yeah ok go for"
"So who's Erin"

"Well she used to be a detective in the unit but she left and I took her place and she joined a team with the FBI in New York"
"Oh and she knows this guy"

"Yeah this guy was kinda her downfall she met a girl named Nadia out on the streets and she took her in became someone she trusted and loved hell from what I hear basically became a mother to her and then Yates killed her to get to Erin"

"Oh my god" I can tell she's thinking about something and I let her process what I just said
"Everything ok Lucy"  I ask after awhile
"Yeah just makes you think what it was you, you know"

"Yeah trust me I know how old is your daughter" I ask switching subjects
"17 she's probably the best thing that's ever happened to me" she smiles
"So what's the story there if you don't mind"
"Well she stole my car and she was homeless still went to school and had good grades and she was making the best out of her life and I wanted to help so I took in under my wing Tim calls her my puppy"
"Puppy?" I ask

"Yeah when you find a kid on the street and you think you can help turn their life around so you take them in a puppy is what we call it"
"That's actually kinda funny and sweet"
"Yeah it is but now she's more than just my puppy"
"Yeah, I'm going to say something, you know you remind me of someone I used to know"

"Oh used to, do you not see them anymore"
"No they died a long time ago but it's nice to see that there are people that are still like them out there"
"The job?" She asks
"Yeah it killed them but on the bright side they get to enjoy a little peace and quiet" I give a sad smile and she does the same Voight texts me that he needs me and Jay back at the station

"Hey do you anything about this" I show her the text
"No I thought we were done with that"
"Me too let's go" she nods and we both get up and walk out I see Tim sitting in her car waiting for her just like Jay was for me I tell Jay about the text and we drive to the station we get there and everyone is in the room we've been using

"What's this about sarge" Jay asks
"He's back in Chicago look" he shows us a picture of a girl who looks like Nadia
"Sarge is that" I start but he cuts me off
"He changed his type apparently and he's moved on to street works yes" he says

"So we're going back to Chicago" Adam says
"Yes our flight leaves in 5 hours"
"Um and what about us" Nolan asks
"You stay here and do what you did before they showed up officer Nolan" Grey says
"Sir all due respect but I would like to see this case through" Nyla says
"Me too" Angela adds

"Yeah same" Lucy says Greg then looks at Voight
"Mind if these three tag along with your team" he asks Voight and Voight looks at me and Jay we both nod
"Sure more eyes and head couldn't hurt"
"Alright you heard him 5 hours" Grey says they nod and leave Tim doesn't look happy but then he goes up to grey and they talk about something then nods and grey goes over to Voight and talks to him and Voight nods then we all go back to our hotel rooms and we get ready to leave Kim comes knocking on our door

"Hey Kim" Jay says as he lets her in
"Hey, you know that we're going to have to keep a close eye on him right"
"Who Voight yeah especially with new eyes in this so none of us let him do anything stupid"
"Yeah that goes for everyone to nobody do anything that isn't by the book at least nothing super confusing ok Bradford said that they don't already play by the book either but I don't think it's the same as what we do so tread lightly" Jay says me and Kim nod she leaves and we finish getting everything packed up and head down to the airport

Tim, Lucy, Angela, and Nyla are there I knew that Tim would let her go without him we get back to Chicago and we all head straight to the district and set up the board with everything we have so far and Voight disappears in his office

"So where are y'all staying" Kim asks
"We haven't booked anything yet" Nyla says
"Oh well why don't you just stay with us" Kim says Adam gives her a look and she just smiles
"Oh thanks but we don't want to impose"
"No you wouldn't"

"Lucy and Tim can stay with us" I say Jay gives me the same look Adam gave Kim
"Ok I suppose" Angela says
"Great so it's settled Angela and Nyla will stay with us and Tim and Lucy with Hailey and Jay" Kim says and Kev just lets out a small chuckle at us girls offering without even asking Adam or Jay
"You two really are something" Kev says
"Hey!" Me and Kim say at the same time
"In the best way possible" he says as he throws his hands up in surrender

"So who's going to go into the dragons den" jay asks pointing to Voights office
"That's all you" Adam says
"Why me" Jay says
"Because your his favorite" Kev says
"I am not I think it should be one of the girls" Jay says pointing at me and Kim

"Whoa, whoa no Hailey is definitely his favorite" Kim says and I roll my eyes and get off my desk
"You guys are all wrong but unlike you all I'm not a little bitch so I'll go" I say and walk into his office and I totally am the favorite but that's besides the point

"Hey we're ready for you" I say softly as I walk in
"Did you tell Jay"
"Yes I did but I don't see how that's important right now" I say
"Congratulations Hailey, I know I already said that but really I'm so proud of how far you've come both you and Jay"

"Thanks sarge" I turn to leave and he follows me out
"Alright guys look go home we will deal with this tomorrow ok I know the clock is ticking but you guys need rest" we all nod and go to leave, Jay is driving me,Tim and Lucy home
