Maya~
The next day at school , i was still struggling to connect with my classmates. Jake , my seatmate , was quite and distant , always chewing gum and avoiding eye contact. We both skipped lunch and recess , opting to stay in the classroom instead. While Jake slept during leisure hours and i used the time to study.
But then, something exciting happened. Our teacher, Mrs. Johnson, announced that we were now allowed to use the library anytime we wanted . I was thrilled! I love reading and learning , and the library was my happy place.
After school , i asked Jake for his notes to copy, and to my surprise, he handed them over without a word, "won't you need to study?", I asked, confused." Why give me all of them?" But Jake just shrugged and walked away , leaving me stunned.
I decided to head to the library to study, hoping to focus and learn. But as I walked in, I was greeted by the sight of Alex and his girlfriend, Rachael , hugging, chatting, laughing and kissing without a care in the world .As i watched Alex and Rachael together, memories of my ex came flooding back. I remembered the way he used to make me laugh, the way he used to hold my hand. But seeing Laex and Rachael , I felt.... nothing . No longing, no regret. Just a faint nostalgia for a time that's gone. I miss the feeling of being in love, but not the heartache that came with it. I sighed, lost in thought , wondering why I couldn't feel that way again. I felt a wave of disgust wash over me. Couldn't they see that this was a place for learning, not making out?
I spotted an empty table and sat down, trying to ignore the distraction . That's when I noticed, a girl from my class, Emily, sitting nearby. She smiled at me, and I offered her a cold drink from my bag. We started chatting, bonding over our shared love of books and learning.
For the first time that day. I felt like i had found a kindred spirit . Maybe, just maybe, this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.
It might still be a little boring but bear with me . I'm sure the next chapters are gonna be fun!!
