They say the brightest smiles hide the darkest secrets, they've suffered the worst battles. There's no difference in emi fukukado's life and that line. The public may never know that they're loved smile hero wasn't always so smiley.

She was a like the moon.
Parts of her were always hidden away

She was the unplanned for child, the buy one get one  free deal at birth. They just wanted her brother never her. She was kept locked away, hidden from the world since day 1.when people thought about her family they forget her existence. She was kept around to make them feel better about their own flaws. But that was just life. She always knew she was the mistake child. The forgotten child. The bad child. The blamed child. The child people kept a distance from. She was never the child that came to their minds when someone asked the words pretty or smart or favorite.

She didn't want love.
She wanted to be loved.
And that was entirely different.

She was always different, more than one ways. She seeks validation from the adult figures in her life trying to patch the wound left in her soul. She didn't care if the male lead got the female lead. She cared if they brought comfort to one another. She never asked for romance just a bit of approval from others.she envied the little girls playing with their fathers at the park whilst she was forced to do ballet alone in the hall. All she ever wanted was a day when her family saw her true purpose.

Once the heart gets to heavy with pain, people don't cry.

They just turn silent.
Completely silent.

She gave up questioning ,why? She just did it without hesitation. She lost the drive to seek approval, the spark that drove her to success. She went numb... Numb to everything, everyone. She didn't cry when the girls at school teased her, bullied her , she didn't cry when she's excluded from family events, she didn't cry if all those events blew a fuse. She gave up. She became a body without a soul, a robot on autopilot doing things on command. She became the quiet girl her parents wanted. They version people enjoy having around.

You have to make mistakes to find out who you aren't.

She would change herself to appeal to others forgetting herself in the process. She'd smile for the cameras while deep inside she screamed for help. She would play along with their shenanigans only to be lost without them. She learnt how to be like the other girls, not realizing she was already perfect. She never was happy.

She overcame everything that was meant to destroy her.

She left her house as soon as she was deemed old  enough not caring for the consequences. She taught herself to be who she is. She realized people enjoyes having the real her, she no longer hid her smile when a kid would come up. She had experienced enough to comfort others. She joked about her trauma, not knowing the dark haired man was actually listening and noting it all down. She didn't back down in battles she kept going till she felt like falling.

And life went on. It was not the same. But it went on.

She would never say it out loud but she was grateful for everything that had happened. It shaped her to be who she is. She may not call them every month or perhaps even a year but both parties knew why and didn't bother. She had built her own life. Her own family. One where she was truly happy. She was happy waking up to see that grumpy face each morning. She was happy to have listening to those tiny laughs running around the house. The friends she made, she didn't miss her life before, or anyone in it.

She did it all on her own. She made herself the sun in other people's life. She had made herself content with her life.  Even if they don't know everything about her past. Because...

She was a like the moon.
Parts of her were always hidden away.
