You stared down at the once-whole vase with utter astonishment. Of course this would happen. Why wouldn't it? Maybe the rumors were true after all! Blue Lock was haunted. It was only your first day, and you were half-sure in that moment that it would be your last. The boys all shifted to look down at the broken artifact with you, pensive looks on all their faces as they stared from over your head.
"Oooh, that's unfortunate." Bachira leaned over your shoulder, speaking closely to your ear. "Looks like you'll be paying back every scent."
"E-every scent..." You mumbled. Now you were scared.
"What! Aw man!" Shidou grumbled, walking over to kneel by the shattered vase. "We were going to offer this piece up at the upcoming auction. My friend was really interested, you know. The starting value went at eight million yen."
"Eight million?!" You yelped, your body collapsing against the wooden stand you nearly knocked over. "So- so I'm in debt?! How many thousand yen is that...? How many thousands are in a million?"
You turned to face the boys, all who were staring at you expectantly. Did they want you to pull out a check or something? No way in a million years would you have that kind of money. "I'm going to have to pay you back..."
Bachira snorted. "With what money? Aren't you dirt poor?"
"Yeah, I mean, he can't even afford the school uniform." Nagi remarked, getting a nudge from Chigiri at his comment.
"Well, what will we do then, president?" Chigiri asked Shidou, fumbling with a piece of the broken vase in his soft hands. Shidou seemed like he already knew what to say, given that damned smirk on his face.
"You may have heard the saying, L/N." Shidou rounded your figure and took hold of your chin. "When in Rome, do as the romans do. Since you have no money, you'll pay with your body."
You squirmed. What?!
"—You'll be the host club's dog."
"A...dog?"
You were relived it wasn't your first thought— being used quite literally for your body— but still uncomfortable with the idea nonetheless. The fact that these ultra-rich teen boys calling themselves a host club are not keeping you captive until you pay your debt sounds like something out of a manga.
You were hoping to slip away under the radar... but the boys seemed to be more than serious about the arrangement.
It wasn't long until the Host Club was open for business and girls from Blue Lock came flooding into the room, squealing about and climbing all over the boys. You found out that afterschool at four o'clock the host club opened for business until around six o'clock.
The club was a big hit, bigger than you expected. Doing a once-over around the room, there were at least fifty or so girls relaxing and drinking tea together while ogling over the boys. You quickly got used to the system: girls would come in, pay their admission fee, then get to schedule about fifteen minutes with their desired host. If they paid more, they can have more time or another appointment with a different host.
Shidou was undoubtedly the most popular. He definitely fit his princely title, since he acted just like one. He sat at a couch-table setting with two girls on either side of him, and about three more on the other couch facing him. He was an expert, giving each girl the proper amount of attention.
"Oh, Shidou... you're so courteous today." A girl giggled, twirling a bit of her brown hair around her index finger.
"For that smile of yours, anything, doll." He winked, landing a collected kiss on her back hand. The surrounding girls squealed with excitement.
