"Jayda! Come on. You cannot sit here and just eat snacks and binge-watch Netflix your whole life. You're twenty-one and haven't even attempted to go out and use your ID." My best friend Nova running her mouth again.
"Who said I can't do that? Watch me." I said throwing another Dorito in my mouth.
She sighed. "I got invited to a party tonight. It's going to be cute guys there. A few celebrities I hear. Why don't you come?"
I sat up in the bed, "why would a celebrity even look my way?" I asked.
She shook her head, "Jayda. You have to stop using your weight as an excuse to not live your life."
That hurt a little, but I knew she was just trying to help me. No, I am not the skinnest girl and people around me are not afraid to remind me. My biggest reminder has always been my mom. At least Nova says it nicely or tries to. My mom can be nasty about it. Imagine being nine years old just asking your mother if she could buy you an ice cream off of the ice cream truck and she tells you no because you're already too fat in front of all of your friends.
Trauma.
"Fine, I'll go."
She screamed. "Yes! Okay. I have the perfect dress for you."
I raised my eyebrow at her, "You know damn well I can't fit any of your dresses. Plus, I don't like wearing them they show too much skin. I'm going to wear jogging pants and a shirt."
She folded her arms. I knew that I was making her upset, but if she wanted me to go so bad I wasn't going to be uncomfortable. I don't like showing my body or showing too much skin. I feel like people would just laugh at me anyway.
I folded my arms back at her, "do you want me to go or not?"
She nodded, "Yes, sorry. I'm gonna go shower. Be ready by eight." She walked out of my room.
I picked my phone up to look at the time and saw that it was already seven PM.
Good thing we had two bathrooms.
"Okay, let me get up."

"I can't believe you convinced me to do this," I said to Nova as we walked into this big ass mansion. The party looked fancy. We had valet parking and everyone hear was dressed up. From head to toe. I stood out like a highlighter. If the plan was not to feel uncomfortable. Oh, I blew that big time.
She grabbed my hand, "Come on, you'll be fine. Let's get a drink."
She guided me to the bar and we sat down. The bartender turned around and looked at me and looked at Nova. When his eyes caught Nova his eyes lit up and a full smile smeared across his face.
Nova had a tight red dress on with a full face of makeup. She looked beautiful so his eyes lit up and him smiling at her was a normal reaction.
Nova smiles back at him. She puts her "flirty" face on. "Hi, can I get two shots of tequila, please?"
He nodded, "Of course beautiful."
The man made the shots and placed them on the encounter, "Enjoy."
Nova grabbed the shots and handed me one. She put hers up in the hair. "Cheers to a good night."
I put my glass up to cheer her. "Yeah. Cheers to that." I said dryly.
We both drank our shots and sat the glasses back on the counter when all the women started screaming.
I looked around to see what was going on. It was a crowd of people circling someone, but I couldn't see who it was from where we were sitting.
