~PRESENT DAY~
January 4th 1996

Platform 9 3/4 was as busy as ever, hundreds of witches and wizards returning back from their Christmas break. Children running up and down the platforms, hugging their families, crying, laughing, cry-laughing.

Florence and Draco swiftly manoeuvred through the crowds of children and quickly found their usual carriage sitting down ready for the long journey back to Hogwarts.

Normally on the ride back to Hogwarts, Draco is chatting, gossiping about his hatred for Harry Potter but this time, this time he was silent. He sat in complete silence refusing to make any eye contact with her.

"Draco is everything alright?" She asked her cousin, his face was paler than normal and lacked all emotion. "Draco?"

He sat there blankly staring at a wall devoid from any social interaction.

"Look Draco I know you may not want to talk about it but if you just tried then-"

"Look I'm perfectly fine so if you could please just give it a rest Florence!!"

"Well you're obviously not fine Draco!" Her voice raising slightly "Ever since we went home you've been different and I'm getting worried about you!"

Draco glared at her "How about you mind your own fucking business Florence. For once not everything is about you" He snarled standing and exiting the carriage.

Draco where are you going now!?

"Away from you" He slammed the carriage door as Florence lies back in her seat, her brow furrowed.

She should probably go after her but she just decides to let him be. Her cousin had always been secluded but now he was worse than ever and she was worried. He'd come around sooner or later...? Wouldn't he?

The rest of the ride to Hogwarts was extremely lacklustre. After an hour or so Draco finally returned back to their carriage, he had changed into his Slytherin robes and just sat opposite Florence in complete silence. The only noises heard were from outside of other students laughing and chatting with their friends.

Florence sat reading. Her mind constantly flicking back to her mother, the pain and anxiety Bellatrix constantly inflicts upon her. Why couldn't she have the normal life everyone else had? Why did she have to have a fucking nutter for a mum? Florence listened to the sound of the students outside laughing and chatting. She envied them. Yes she had the money and status but what she truly didn't have was a normal happy life. She didn't have a normal family. Any normal friends. Nothing. Florence had nothing.

After what felt like an eternity the train came to a stop. Everyone was boarded off and made their way to the carriages.

Florence sat in the carriage once again with Draco and a few of his minions, Crab and Goylle. It was a calm cool night, the moon reflected down onto the Black Lake shimmering orbs reflecting off of it. The air was still the only sound being the turning of the carriage wheels and the occasional rustling of an animal.

After a few minutes, Florence finally lifted her head and spotted the castle. Hogwarts was built in a valley area surrounding mountains were part of the landscape with the fairly large Great Lake near the building. The castle was the main part of Hogwarts and was huge, rambling with a jumble of towers and battlements. It was truly beautiful.
