June didn't even bother explaining what was going on before he closed the door and locked it before heading toward the wardrobe. He was holding some sort of leather material in his hands and went fishing clothes out of the racks.

"Woah, woah, woah, take it easy now. June, what is going on?" I inquired, but June was still focused on getting as many clothes out of the wardrobe.

"We don't have much time, I need to get you boys out of here." June rushed.

He was stuffing as many clothes into the leather pouch despite it getting more bulkier and filling so quickly with fabric.

Veri and I exchanged a look before nodding in confirmation. We don't even have to exchange a single word to know what the other was thinking. One look was all it took to get the message.

Veri walked over to June, who was busy sweeping clothes towards him using his arms. When he was distracted momentarily, Veri snatched the big leather pouch that had a piece of silk hanging out of its mouth.

June turned around and quickly got to his feet.

"Veridian, stop with this foolishness." June demanded.

He tried to reach for the bag, but Veri was already near the open window. With one hand holding the pouch, his arm extended far out until it reached its limit. He was holding onto a piece of string, and their stood the bag, dangling inches away from falling into the street.

With his free arm extended, he pushes June further away from what I could now identify was a knapsack. He created a great distance between June and the bag. Though June was much older and stronger, he also knew who had the advantage of the situation.

He could just swat Veri's hand away with ease and grab the bag, but he wouldn't be quick enough to grab it before it ended up falling out of the window. I could only smirk from pure amusement.

"Not unless you tell us what is going on." Veri said.

With no hesitation, June stopped pushing, and I thought it was a trick that he was planning up his sleeve. It got me instinctively walking closer to June. Maybe with my good arm, I could stop him, but I wasn't sure myself.

Veri still held his hand out cautiously but lowered it for the meanwhile. June stopped pushing.

"Fine, you want to know? They're here."

"Who?" I inquired.

"The Scarlet Masks..." June concludes.

Veri and I exchanged another look, but this time, I didn't know what message was being exchanged. It was one quick look before he tossed the bag to June and went walking towards me. June caught the knapsack, but he walked over to the window and peered outside as if he was scouting for any material that fell off.

It was only for a few seconds before he closed the window, and a small click I heard told me it was locked in place. June looked back at us and came forward but paused the second we heard a door slam shut.

He continued, walking slowly towards us until we were close enough to hear him.

"Quiet now. My mother must've let them in." June whispered.

My heart was beating rampantly fast, and the air felt so still that I didn't know what to make of it.

"Why would she let them in?" Veri asked in a hush tone.

" Doesn't matter. We have to hide." I said.

"Yeah, but where?" Veri questioned.

My immediate thought went to the bed as it was the only place that could provide a good hiding space as of now.
