Prakruti's POV
As I reached my room, I closed the door from the inside and dialed Ishika's number. She picked up on the first ring.
"Hey, Prakruti," she said.
Ishika is my one and only best friend. Just hearing her voice made me break down in tears.
"Hey," I managed to say through my sobs.
"Kya hua, sab thik hai?" she asked with concern.
("What happened? Is everything alright?")"Kuch thik nahi hai, sab kuch tabaah ho gaya hai, Ishika," I cried.
("Nothing is right; everything is ruined, Ishika.")"Kya hua, bataayegi?" she asked.
("What happened? Will you tell me?")"Not over the phone. I want to meet you."
"Okay, but where?" she asked, and I gave her the address of a nearby cafe.
I got ready to meet her and informed Poonam Aunty that I was going out. She assured me it was fine.
When I reached the cafe, Ishika was already there. I walked to her table, and as soon as she stood up, I hugged her tightly and started crying.
"Prakruti, what happened? Will you tell me?" she asked, making me sit down. Slowly, I revealed the story. She was in total shock.
"What?" was all that came out of her mouth.
"And now, if Rajveer finds out about this, I don't know what he'll do," I said nervously.
"We need to find a way," she suggested.
"There is no way out of this," I cried.
"I think we should try talking to Rajveer," she suggested again. "But I'm sure he'll harm me or my family," I told her.
"I think right now you should go back home. We'll find a way," she said. "Yeah, and by the way, how was your London trip? With all these problems, I forgot to ask you." As I said this, her face became pale.
"What happened, Ishika? Are you okay?" I asked her. "Yes, and it was good," she answered.
After a little chit-chat with her, I felt lighter. She's the only person I feel comfortable with. She's my world.
I went back home; Poonam Aunty had sent a car with a driver. When I reached my room, I found my luggage packed. Poonam Aunty entered, "Oh, you're back, beta?" she asked. "Yes, Aunty," I replied.
"Don't call me Aunty now. I'm your Maa, so I'd love it if you called me that. I know your marriage was forced, but I promise I'll never let you feel left out or unwanted," she said, trying to make me comfortable. I just nodded.
"Maa, what's this packing for?" I asked her. "Oh, didn't Ekansh tell you that you're moving to your new house?" she said, and I remembered he had told me, but I had forgotten. "Yes, Maa, I forgot," I said.
"I can understand," she smiled. We were chatting when Ekansh entered. "Beta, we've packed all your things. Are you ready to go?" she asked him.
"Yes, Maa," he answered.
We, along with Ranvijay and Isha, left the house after getting blessings from the elders and sat in our cars. Moving to a different house was great because I didn't know how to adjust to people.
EKANSH'S POV
When I entered my room, I loved the way she was talking to my mother, addressing her as "Maa." She literally stole my heart. She's so beautiful.
Now we are driving towards our new home. I'm really excited. But she's just sitting quietly, so I decided to talk to her. I cleared my throat, "How was your day?" I asked. She snapped out of her thoughts. "Huh? Oh, yeah, it was good," she answered.
I concluded that she's not interested in talking to me, so I decided to drive quietly. But out of the blue, she asked, "What about yours?" "It was good," I answered.
"Can I ask you a question?" she asked. "Yes," I said. "I know I'm your replaced bride, but why are you being so nice to me? I mean, you were never this nice to Payal," she asked. How am I going to tell her the truth—that she is not the replaced bride but the bride I always wanted?
"Because you are special," I answered, but her expressions showed this was not the answer she was expecting.
"And what makes me so special?" she asked.
"Your dark brown eyes, your heart-shaped lips, your light brown hair, your perfect nose," I realized that I had gotten lost in thoughts of her in front of her. I cleared my throat and stopped the car. "We reached our house," I said, but she was still processing what I had said earlier.
I got out of the car and opened the door for her. She stepped out and whispered, "Beautiful," after seeing the mansion in front of her eyes.
We went inside, and I asked the maids to move our luggage to our rooms. "Prakruti, I know you are not comfortable with me right now. So, we'll live in separate rooms," I said, and I could see the calmness on her face after hearing this.
"You know, this is the house I lived in before marriage, alone, but now I have company," I said, and she smiled. Uff, she looks so cute while smiling.
"You know, you look cute while smiling," I told her, and she immediately stopped smiling. Then I showed her to her room and returned to mine. I took a shower and came out. After changing into comfortable clothes, I opened a secret door in my room.
"Oh baby, I missed you," I said.
