It was an afternoon, and unseasonal rain was falling on the streets of Delhi. Niharika, a marketing head at a renowned company, was always busy. Today was no different, with work pressure and a series of meetings showing no signs of stopping. Suddenly, raindrops started falling outside the window. Niharika took a sip from her cup and stood by the window. The view outside was extremely beautiful.
A light mist covered the streets, and the raindrops seemed to be dancing to the rhythm of some unseen music. It had been a long time since she had seen such a sight. Just then, her college friend Aditya, who was also her colleague now, arrived with a cup of coffee in his hand.
Aditya liked seeing Niharika looking out of the window like that. He gently placed the cup on her desk and asked, "What are you thinking, Niha?"
Niharika smiled and replied, "Just remembering old times seeing this rain. It feels like a lifetime ago."
Aditya also smiled and said, "Let's go outside and enjoy getting drenched in the rain. It’s been ages since we’ve done something spontaneous."
Niharika hesitated at first, looking at the pile of files on her desk and the constant buzz of office chatter around her. "But the work, the meetings…"
Aditya cut her off, "Sometimes, you just need a break. The work will still be here when we get back. Come on, live a little!"
Niharika finally gave in. She gathered her files, placed them neatly on her desk, and stood up. "Alright, let's do it."
As they stepped outside, the cool breeze and the smell of fresh rain filled their senses. They took off their shoes and started walking barefoot on the wet grass of the office garden. The cold raindrops touched their faces, and they played around like children.
Aditya laughed, "Remember how we used to do this back in college? Just run out whenever it rained, no matter where we were?"
Niharika nodded, her eyes sparkling with the joy of the moment. "Those were some of the best times. No worries, no responsibilities, just pure fun."
Suddenly, Niharika slipped on the wet grass and was about to fall when Aditya caught her. He pulled her close, their faces inches apart, and softly said, "You know, Niha, this unseasonal rain made me realize that some things happen suddenly and beautifully, just like our friendship."
Niharika looked into Aditya's eyes and said, "And maybe, something more than just our friendship."
Aditya's heart skipped a beat. He pulled Niharika even closer, and their eyes had a new sparkle. Amidst the raindrops, their heartbeats became one. The moment seemed to stretch, each raindrop echoing the unspoken words between them.
As they stood there, drenched and holding each other, Aditya whispered, "I’ve always felt there was something special about us. Something that goes beyond just friendship."
Niharika blushed red, looking down for a moment before meeting his gaze again. "I’ve felt it too, Aditya. I was just too scared to admit it."
Aditya smiled, his hand gently brushing a wet strand of hair from her face. "No more fear, Niha. Let’s take this chance, together."
Their embrace tightened, and in that rainy afternoon, they shared their first kiss. It was tender and filled with the promise of something beautiful and lasting. The world around them faded, leaving only the sound of their heartbeats and the rhythm of the falling rain.
In the days that followed, something changed between Niharika and Aditya. Their laughter and conversations in the office had a new sweetness. They found excuses to spend more time together, whether it was working on a project or simply having lunch.
One evening, when Niharika was returning home from the office, she received a call from Aditya.
"Niha, are you free? I need to talk to you about something important."
Niharika replied with a slightly worried voice, "Yes, Aditya, is everything okay?"
"Yes, everything is fine. I'm near your apartment. Can you come down?" Aditya asked.
Niharika immediately agreed and quickly came down. Aditya was standing there with a rose in his hand. Smiling, he said to Niharika, "Niha, this rain made me realize that I'm incomplete without you. Will you be with me forever?"
Tears welled up in Niharika's eyes. In a few days of their confession she had realised that Aditya is important for her. She took the rose and hugged Aditya. "Yes, Aditya, I also want you in my life forever."
Niharika and Aditya's relationship now moved in a new direction. They spent every day together, cherishing small joys together. They went on long drives, explored new places, and shared their dreams and fears.
It was one day, Aditya thought of giving Niharika a surprise. He told her he wanted to take her somewhere. Excited, Niharika asked, "Where are you taking me?"
Aditya laughed and said, "Just wait a little."
He took her to a beautiful small open terrace restaurant where a small candlelight dinner setup was arranged. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and she could see that a small portion was empty. Surprised, Niharika asked, "What's all this, Aditya?"
Looking into her eyes, Aditya said, "Niha, you are the most beautiful part of my life. I want every day with you to be special like this."
They sat under the starry sky, the candles casting a soft glow around them. They talked about their future, their plans, and their hopes. Aditya took her hand in his and said, "Niha, I want to spend my life with you. I want to be there for you, in every joy and every sorrow."
Niharika's eyes filled with tears again. "I feel the same, Aditya. I can't imagine my life without you."
They sealed their promises with a kiss, and the night became a memory they would cherish forever.
Life was going good, they didn't realized that it was two years of them being together and their love grew deeper. Niharika and Aditya faced every joy and difficulty together. The foundation of their relationship was so strong that no trouble could shake it.
It was Niharika 's birthday when they went to an old temple, Aditya got down on his knees, put a ring on Niharika's finger, and asked, "Will you marry me, Niha?"
Tears of joy filled Niharika's eyes. She nodded yes, and they hugged each other.
They were married two months later. After marriage, Niharika and Aditya made their lives even more beautiful. They built a new home together and strengthened their love every day.
Niharika would often come home to find Aditya cooking her favorite meals or planning a surprise date night. Aditya loved to see the joy in her eyes and made every effort to keep their love alive and fresh.
One rainy evening, much like the one when their story began, they sat by the window, watching the raindrops dance. Niharika leaned against Aditya, feeling his warmth.
"Remember that first day in the rain?" Niharika asked, her voice filled with nostalgia.
Aditya smiled, kissing her forehead. "How could I forget? It was the day I realized I couldn't live without you."
Niharika smiled, her eyes reflecting the raindrops outside. "That rain brought us together. It made me believe in the magic of unexpected moments."
Aditya held her closer. "And it taught me that sometimes, the best things in life come unplanned. Like us."
