I stepped out into the crisp morning air, feeling the familiar rush of excitement that came with the start of a new day on our family farm. Daphne and I had just finished our morning chores, and I was on my way to check on the new baby goats in the pen. The sun was still low on the horizon, casting a golden glow over the fields. As I approached the pen, I noticed a figure moving among the goats. My curiosity piqued, I quickened my pace, calling out, "Hey, who's in there? You're not supposed to be-" Before I could finish my sentence, the figure turned around, and my words caught in my throat. Standing before me was a tall young man with black hair and striking blue eyes, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "Oh, uh, hi there," I stammered, suddenly feeling self-conscious. "I, uh, thought you were... someone else." I said as I tried to smooth my hair down before he could notice how I hadn't brushed it this morning and how messy it looked. The young man chuckled softly, his voice warm and inviting. "No worries. I'm Milo. Danny's friend, the new help around here." I blinked, trying to process the information. Danny had mentioned Milo before, but seeing him in person was different. He looked at ease among the goats, his posture relaxed yet attentive. "I'm Evelyn," I managed to say, extending my hand awkwardly. Milo took it with a friendly grin, his handshake firm but gentle. "It's nice to meet you, Evelyn," he replied, his blue eyes meeting mine. "Your brother Danny spoke highly of you and Daphne. Said you two are the heart and soul of this place." I looked at him stunned."Danny said that my brother Danny." When I said that, his face formed a smile. A warmth spread through me at his smile is warm and welcoming the kind of smile that makes everyone else smile. Milo's face went back to how it had been, his gaze returning to the goats as he gently stroked one of their heads. "You've got a beautiful farm. The animals seem happy and well-cared for." I followed his gaze, feeling a swell of pride. "We love it here. The goats are our latest addition. They're a handful but so adorable. That one there is posh." I said, smiling to myself "posh that's an interesting name." Milo said as he petted posh on the head "Yeah there all named after the spice girls since their mother was called spice." I said as I looked down to the floor to see one of the goats nibbling on my trousers. We spent a few more moments chatting about the farm and the animals, our conversation flowing easily. Milo's easygoing nature put me at ease, and I found myself enjoying his company more than I had expected. "Well, I should probably get back to it," Milo said eventually, glancing at his watch. "Lots to do today."Yeah, of course," I replied, stepping back reluctantly. "It was really nice meeting you, Milo."Likewise, Evelyn," he said warmly. "I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you and Daphne around here." As he walked away, I couldn't help but watch him go, a mix of emotions swirling inside me. Meeting Milo was unexpectedly pleasant, and I couldn't deny the slight flutter in my stomach.
