NELSON POV:
I sit in the bleachers with Coach Cam, Lavar and Romelo. We were having to find members for our new girls team so we pulled up to a game between the lady wildcats and the lady sparrows, I've never heard of either teams but according to Cam the wildcats have a total prodigy on their team.
"Cam are you sure you have the right team? They suck ass."
I say as I point towards the scoreboard '15-25'.
"Yeah yeah just watch the actual game, I don't think theyve put the girl out yet, her number is 9 so look out for that."
Cam says as he looks down at the game, I nod in agreement.
It gets to second period as I see a girl wearing the number 9 sub in, I tap Cam on the shoulder.
"Yo, is that her?"
I say pointing at a girl with 9 on her back, I notice Cam looking slightly confused
"What Cam? Is it or nah??"
I say pushing him lightly with my elbow
"Yeah yeah I think so, I just wasn't expecting her.."
He says looking at her closer
"Huh?"
I say giving him a confused look, raising an eyebrow
"I might be tripping don't worry bout it."
He says waving me off.
ALYSSA POV:
I finally got subbed in, it was second period and we were getting our asses handed to us. I jog to the baseline to run our defense, I honestly hated my team, My coach is always yelling at me for nothin and my teammates can't listen or run a play, I really only like two of them but of course they weren't here today. I would transfer if I could but its so expensive now to join another team so im stuck with what I have. I notice a girl standing next to me, I assume the period is about to start, I quickly get lower to the ground in my defensive position, I start moving along the baseline watching corners, I see a trap opportunity clear as day and their center gets the ball, I run up to her to block her shot, expecting another one of my teammates to help but as usual without fail, they're all standing still, I jump up and swat her shot, I run behind her to grab the ball and take it down the court. I dribble towards one of my teammates, passing her the ball as I say "Read the floor, you gotta feed the post" I run to the left block, waiting for a ball, I cut up to top of the key, wide open I finally get a ball passed to me as I take one stride left then cut quickly to the right, driving into the paint getting past the girl that was guarding me, I shoot and make a layup.
I hear the final buzzer go off, we still lost but I helped our team by a major, the game ended 60-74 about 40 of those points being made by me. I walk up to our benches as I grab a bottle of water and walk to my coach so we can discuss the game, She gets onto me about my "bad defense" and "ball hogging" which I think is total bullshit, but obviously I can't say that so I just nod and listen to her, I take off my basketball shoes after her tangent and I walk into the lobby where I see my dad talking to a group of guys, two older black guys a younger lightskin and an even younger white boy with curly hair. I look at them confused as I walk up to my dad, and give him a hug.
"Hey dad, wheres jacob?"
I say letting go of him and looking at him
"Where do you think?"
He says grabbing my basketball bag and pointing towards the concession stand, I nod and laugh, seeing Jacob ordering at the stand
"Anyways, this is Cam, do you remember him?"
He says motioning towards an older guy
"Uncle Cam?"
I say raising an eyebrow at him
"Yur"
He says with a smile, nodding at me
"Ohhh yeah I do howve you been?"
I say reaching out to dap him up
"Good good, uh anyways I was just talking to your dad about how I've been wanting to start up a new girls league.."
He says dapping me up
"And I was wondering if you would want to join?"
He says having a 'pleasee' smile on his face
"Depends how much is it?"
I say folding my arms
"Its free, plus youre family I'd neva make you pay"
He says with a smile, I look over to my dad
"It's your decision not mine kid, you wanna play or not?"
He says looking down at me, I look back at Cam and smile
"Yeah I'll play! Can I have your number so I know when games and stuff are?"
He nods as he hands me his phone with the 'Create new contact' on the screen, I type in my number, not giving my contact a name I hand it back to him.
"Thank ya"
He says as he types in something for my name, I see jacob walking over to us with nachos and a red powerade
"You tryna share?"
I say rubbing my hands together looking at jacobs food
"HAIL NAW."
He says jerking his body to the side so I can't reach his food, I laugh at him. I watch as my dad and Cam exchange numbers as Cam looks at me and gives me a hug
"Hey good job little miss prodigy"
He says smiling at me, letting me go as I smile back up at him. I see the other three boys nod at me as the youngest one walks up to me and daps me up
"Hey good job I lowkey had no faith in your team but you cooked foreal."
I roll my eyes and laugh at him saying thank you, I look back to my dad and brother walking out the door, I jog towards them
"DAMN YALL WAIT UP!"
I say catching the door behind them
