                               prologue

         000. the eerie glow over beacon.

The car's headlights pierced through the darkness, casting an eerie beam on the wet road ahead. The first thing you'll notice about Beacon Hills is the eerie glow that emanates from it, a haunting aura that lingers yet somehow brings comfort. For Amara beckshire, this was always the case. She hadn't always been fond of Beacon, but it offered a peculiar sense of solace, one she couldn't quite explain but had grown accustomed to over time.

Amara hadn't always lived in Beacon Hills, but she moved at the beginning of her freshman year. Her grandmother had grown sicker, and her father, Elijah, needed to be closer to his mother as her health declined. They packed their stuff and moved. Amara never actually met her grandmother; all she knew was that her grandmother was 'mentally ill' and had been placed in a mental health facility called Eichen House. Amara would try to visit her grandmother, but Eichen House always gave her a weird, eerie feeling. Plus, her grandmother wasn't even fully there anymore.

Her father never enjoyed talking about his mother, so she never pushed it. They moved into her father's old childhood home, which wasn't the newest house on the block but it sure was pretty. At the end of a cul-de-sac, you'll find the two-story house painted in creamy tones. The exterior featured a porch and tall windows with elegant, dark wooden shutters framing the facade.

When Amara and her mother Lorraine first laid eyes on it after moving in, they felt like it was haunted in some weird way. However, Amara's father quickly dismissed that notion. Nonetheless, it took some time, but Amara's mother Lorraine fixed up the house and made it cozy and homely.

Amara's mother, Lorraine, She had long, light brown hair with highlights, paired with brown eyes. She always had a loving, cheeky smile on her face. Lorraine was a home interior designer, which made it relatively easy for her to pick up everything and move to Beacon Hills. But this meant leaving behind her company. But Lorraine was always dedicated to her family, so despite it, she found a way to manage it all.

On the other hand, her father, Elijah whom always has a serious look to him, has black hair paired with brown eyes , with a clean-cut mustache and beard. He served as a police sheriff in their previous town, making it more difficult for him to drop everything and relocate. However, when he received the call that his mother had become unresponsive stating her health was declining,he knew he had to make the move.

Fortunately, Elijah knew Sheriff Noah Stilinski from their childhood. They had grown up together, later parting ways when they both enlisted in the military each had married and started families. Noah and Elijah tried to stay in touch more, but with their hands full raising their own children, their conversations became less frequent.

Noah had a son named Mieczyslaw Stilinski, but he always went by Stiles. Stiles had dark, tousled hair with hazel eyes that carried a careless, boyish charm on his face.

When Noah's late wife, Claudia, passed away, the Beckshires attended the funeral. It was there that 8-year-old Stiles and Amara first met. Despite grieving for his mother, Stiles managed to bring a smile to Amara's face, and she unknowingly brought him comfort in return.

Ever since the passing of Elijah's mother, the Beckshire family would try to visit the Stilinskis and Elijah's mother as often as they could. Amara formed an unintentional friendship with Stiles Stilinski. Amara's visits were short, usually from Friday night to early Sunday morning, and infrequent, occurring every three months or so. Although their bond wasn't strong, it was enough for the kids to be close. During these visits, Amara also met Stiles' best friend, Scott McCall. Scott had a tan complexion, droopy dark hair, and brown eyes. Despite the limited time, they became good friends.

However, as time went on, the visits became less frequent due to busy schedules. Elijah, Lorraine, and Amara all found themselves increasingly occupied. Amara, in particular, played soccer, and most of her matches were on weekends. By the age of 10, Amara had lost nearly all connection to Beacon Hills, except for her grandmother.

Amara's adjustment to Beacon was difficult in the beginning, as she didn't know anyone besides the dorky sheriff's son and his best friend. It's been a couple of years since she last talked to them, but Amara is a pretty girl. She has a slim figure with pale, flushed skin, long, straight dark brown hair, and brown dewy eyes, a mirror of her parents. Her mother was sure she'd be fine, and she was correct. By the second week of her freshman year, Amara became friends with Lydia Martin, a strawberry blonde who had all sorts of friends. Those friends soon became Amara's friends as well. She and Lydia clicked; they had all sorts of things in common, and Amara enjoyed Lydia's company. By the second semester of her freshman year, Amara also had all sorts of friends whom she quite frankly adored.

Amara would see Stiles and Scott throughout Beacon Hills High School. They would exchange a quick smile and move on. She had classes with both of them but never really talked to them. Stiles had grown a lot taller since she last saw him; he now had a buzz cut but still retained his dorky boyish charm. Scott McCall had also grown; he had definitely grown into his features but still had that droopy hair.

She noticed Stiles staring at her throughout the hallways, but Amara assumed it was because Stiles had a huge crush on Lydia Martin—a crush everyone knew about except Lydia. She always assumed Lydia
knew but never gave it the time of day.
