Simone's POV:
Weeks goes by, and we lost all contact. We haven't talked, texted, met eyes, or anything. When I said I was done I was serious. There's nothing that would get me to like him again.
I'm sitting in class with my AirPods in, minding my business like per usual. I don't want to be here at all, yet alone be bothered by judgey people that don't know me everyday. I was humiliated by that video and I'm so pissed I let myself get that vulnerable to him.
"Alright.." Mr. Luzon says, taking a deep breath getting out of his seat. "Describe the impact of the Industrial Revolution on society and the economy." He asked the class.
I stare into Mr.Luzons eyes, zoning out since I do that from time to time to make it seem like I'm paying attention. He looks at me and asks, "Ms. Chanler. May you tell me?"
It takes me by surprise that he called on me so I adjust myself to answer his question "Yes, Uhm.. The impact on the society made the working conditions harsh, leading to later on improvement and the economy shifts from agrarian and artisanal to industrial." I say quickly so I could get the embarrassment over with.
Mr. Luzon smiles at my reply and thanks me. I quickly put my head down because almost everyone looks at me in a weird way.
"Nerd!" Lucas mumbles, laughing with Zion. I roll my eyes at their stupidity since they're the ones they can't get over 70's in their classes. Pfft.
"Simone is right! The living conditions were so impactful, that it improved the Industrial Revolution Society..." Mr. Luzon exclaimed.
♧ ♧ ♧
Lunch. The worst out of the whole day. It's weird, like everyone has people to sit next to...Well I guess that makes me the weird one. Usually I prefer to sit next to people to not seem as lonely but I want to be completely to myself today.
I open my phone and eat until I was brain dead from scrolling with my thumb. I look around seeing people talking, laughing, and over all enjoying company. I don't know why I haven't made any friends yet. I mean my reputation can't be that bad? I like to stay to myself, so what? That doesn't make me an alien with "the cheese touch" or something. Ugh I'm tired of living this way. I need to step out my own box and talk to someone at least!
I secretly, toss my chapstick next to a random girls foot and walk up to her and her group of friends.
"Sorry" I say, picking my chapstick up gently. She looks at me scanning my face. "Hey, Simone.. right?" She questions with squinted eyes. "Yea, Rachel?" I question in exchange. "Yup." "We have English together." I laugh. "Yes! That's it. Well..see you there." She turns. I nod my head, walking back. Alright that wasn't so bad.
"Hey!" She yells, stopping me in my tracks. "You can sit here if you'd like?" She smiles. I grin from her kind gesture, " Oh, really? Thanks!" I walk over to her. I sit and we talk for a while about teachers and our passion of hate for both Eliza and Allison, crazy right?
Lunch is over and we get to English. She sits ahead of me so it was hard for us to stop talking with each other. Im finally talking to somebody new, someone that's actually real and not AI. We had a good time just Exchanging our experiences in the school and stuff, until a certain topic was brought up. The video.
I knew it would be mentioned but I was hoping it wouldn't. I guess It was be odd not too since I'm sure everyone knows about it.
"Uhm sorry if this is too personal but... How did the video get around.. like what happened?" She asked curiously but took caution of what she said. "Oh, uh yea.. it's kind of a long but short story." I answer. "Oh, okay it's fine." She turns. "No it's okay, uhm Zion recorded it and sent it to everyone out of spite. It was so uncalled for but, I should've known better, messing with him." I say disappointed in my actions. "I'm so sorry. That must be terrible to have yourself... exposed like that?" She said searching for correct words. "Yea, I was completely used by his advantage."
