I, Andreas Sanchez, still remember the day I met Franky and Tim like it was yesterday. I was 20 years old, a hustler with ambition burning in my veins, trying to carve my name into the criminal underworld. My reputation as a ruthless and cunning leader was spreading through the back alleys and whispered conversations, but I knew I couldn't climb alone. I needed loyal soldiers, men I could trust with my life, men who wouldn't flinch in the face of danger. That's when I met Franky Sanchez, a muscular and imposing figure chiseled from granite, with a buzz cut that screamed discipline and a Marine Corps background etched into his very posture. He was working as a bouncer at a dingy, smoke-filled club called the Serpent's Kiss, and I was immediately drawn to his quiet efficiency and unwavering loyalty, traits that were rarer than gold in this world.
The air hung thick with cigarette smoke and cheap perfume as I approached him, the bass of the music vibrating in my chest. I had been watching him for a while, studying his movements, sizing him up. He handled drunk patrons with a firm hand but a surprising amount of restraint. He wasn't just muscle; there was intelligence behind those steely eyes.
"Hey, you're the new guy, right?" I said, projecting an air of confidence I didn't fully feel. "Franky Sanchez, I've heard a lot about you."
Franky's eyes narrowed slightly, his jaw clenched, the muscles in his neck tightening. He wasn't easily intimidated. "Andreas Sanchez. I've heard a lot about you too." His voice was a low rumble, like distant thunder. He didn't elaborate, but the unspoken words hung in the air: Ruthless. Ambitious. Dangerous.
I smiled, liking his directness. No bullshit. This was my kind of man. "I'm looking for someone to watch my back. Someone who can handle themselves in a fight. Someone I can trust with my life."
Franky raised a thick eyebrow. "You think I'm just a mindless thug, don't you? Another dumb brute for you to point in the right direction."
I shrugged, my eyes meeting his unflinchingly. "I think you're a man who can get the job done. And that's all that matters to me. I need someone who won't hesitate, someone who won't crack under pressure. Someone who's got my six, no matter what."
Franky snorted, a puff of air escaping his nostrils. "You're a real piece of work, Andreas. Cocky, arrogant..." He paused, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "...but I like your style. I'm in."
Just then, a lean and agile figure seemed to materialize beside us, almost out of the shadows. He moved with a fluid grace that belied a coiled, dangerous energy. "Hey, Andreas. I see you're still making friends with the wrong crowd."
I rolled my eyes, a familiar annoyance bubbling up within me. "Tim Lee. Always so quick to judge, aren't you?"
Tim's eyes flashed with a fierce intensity, a spark of righteous anger lighting his features. "Someone has to keep you in check, Andreas. You're a dangerous man. You have a knack for attracting trouble, and someone needs to make sure you don't drag the whole damn city down with you."
Franky raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting between Tim and me with growing curiosity. "You two know each other?"
I nodded, a reluctant smile tugging at the corner of my lips. "Tim and I go way back. We were childhood rivals, always trying to one-up each other. He's the brains, I'm the... well, you'll find out."
Tim smiled, a genuine smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes and softened his sharp features. "Andreas was always the one who couldn't follow the rules. Always pushing the boundaries, bending them until they broke."
I chuckled, remembering the countless scrapes we had gotten into as kids. "That's what made me the leader I am today. I learned early on that rules are for those who can't make their own."
