I was hastily passing corridors, trying to get to Tiago's coding room quickly.

I had fucking overslept by an hour and today was the day of the mission.

I normally never set up an alarm. My brain was a finely tuned machine that knew when to wake up at a specific time.

But for some reason, I didn't wake up. My dogs woke up before me and had woken me up.

So now I was behind by an hour, rushing to my hacker's room for a meeting in sweats and an old t-shirt, hoping I didn't already screw everything up with my tardiness.

My father's words rushed back in an instant.

"𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚."

𝐹𝑢𝑐𝑘, 𝑛𝑜.

I pushed his voice to the back of my mind. I didn't fucking have time for this.

𝐼 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑇𝑖𝑎𝑔𝑜 𝑏𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒 ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛—

𝑆𝑚𝑎𝑐𝑘. My body collided with someone else's, wrecking my train of thought. I glared down, about to let my mouth run with threats at the person for getting in my way when I saw who it was.

Dark hair, different eyes.

Renata.

She clutched her shoulder and winced in discomfort.

My eyes immediately softened. I knew I was a heavy built man. Two hundred and ten pounds of pure muscle, but her expression made me feel like I was made of stone if she felt that much pain.

I instinctively reached for her shoulder to access the damage, but she flinched away, startled.

"It's okay, I just want to check to make sure you're okay." I assured her.

Her lip twitched in uncertainty before she spoke. "I'm fine. You don't need to check anything." She glared at me, all sassy confidence.

𝐹𝑢𝑐𝑘, 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑠𝑜 𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ?

"And you look like you're in a hurry. Go ahead." She insisted, forcing a smile and still slightly clutching her shoulder.

Shit, I forgot about the meeting.

I ran my hand through my hair in thought.
