The next three weeks passed too quickly, in the opinion of the Quileute council members. The forest and border patrols became more rigorous, doubled by Sam to ensure the Children of the Moon would keep their word to arrive only after the full moon. And when it finally passed, the pack's anticipation doubled.

Leah had spent three consecutive nights on patrol, running, watching, and sniffing every inch of the reservation's border for invading traces. Even with the visitors' arrival drawing closer, the she-wolf didn't hesitate to run home after her shift, straight to her room, her bed, her refuge. Seth, who had participated in the patrols with his sister, refused to simply sleep, wanting to stay awake and alert for when the refugees arrived.

A howl suddenly cut through the morning silence, echoing through the forest, causing the younger Clearwater to jump from his chair, give his mother a quick kiss, and dash out of the house towards the forest.

Far away, in Cullen territory, Jacob did the same, promising to share the news as soon as he returned to see Renesmee. Jared was responsible for the call, and through his eyes, all the pack's wolves saw the strange man enter Quileute territory, followed by two girls, as mentioned by Sam. A few minutes later, the entire pack gathered beside Jared, anxious, waiting for the two alphas who arrived shortly after.

Sam stood in front of the pack with Jacob behind him, the former trying to bring order to the chaos in his mind due to the pack's anticipation, while the latter analyzed their visitor's profile. The stranger had tan skin, almond-shaped eyes, long straight hair tied with an elastic band, wore a headband, a white shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbows, jeans, worn sneakers, and a necklace with a gold medal around his neck. The young man appeared calm and held Jacob's gaze without smiling, as if giving the wolf permission to scrutinize him.

The wolves seemed to have difficulty calming down, and noticing this, the guest initiated the dialogue:

"Good afternoon, Sam!" The wolves silenced their thoughts instantly, as if their favorite movies had just begun and they didn't want to miss anything. "We came to know the answer to our request; we don't want trouble or fights and I can assure you our pursuers have been outwitted, but unfortunately, we can't return to our lands."

"Good afternoon, Lucian, it's a pleasure to see you again. I believe you'll be glad to know your request was accepted by our council. However, we need to clarify a few things before bringing you to our reservation."

"Yes, I'm glad to hear that." He turned to the other wolves with a slight nod. "Pleased to meet you all, I am Lucian, a Child of the Moon. I hope to get to know you better later, in human form... What would you like to know about us?"

"The boys want to know about your transformation. Do you mind starting with that?"

"The Children of the Moon have existed for many, many years. Initially, the transformation only occurred during the full moon, but over time we gained some control over the lupine genes and acquired some privileges. In other words, we can transform at any time and place without losing control of ourselves." The wolves stirred. "This does not exempt us from the moon's influence, which continues to transform us involuntarily, but in that case, we cannot maintain control over our actions..."

"What the hell is this, Sam?" Jacob shouted. "Is there more we didn't know about?"

"Calm down, Jake, he's here to clarify everything for us, don't be hasty. Remember, we haven't set our rules yet."

"I'm sorry if I surprised you with this information, Jake," Lucian said seriously.

"It's Jacob Black to you, idiot!"
