Rusted Shut (Tango in the night~ Fleetwood Mac)

It is Christmas morning of 1995, Vanessa wakes up with pure excitement rushing through her veins. It would be the first year she received a present as Draco was favored by her parents and constantly ignored her focusing on him. Her late Grandmother had recently passed away and left her a gift to open on Christmas.

She rushed downstairs only to see Blaise eating the last of her favorite pastry, as any eight year old would be she was rightfully upset and yelled out at him. "Zabini what are you eating!? That better not be the last of MY pastries." He turns around in shock and sprints running outside her following only to tackle him to the ground outside Malfoy manor and snow falls gracefully around them in piles. He quickly screams for Draco "Draco are you serious you gave me HER pastry! It was an accident I swear I didn't mean to." Draco watches them from doorway laughing as Narcissa scolds Vanessa telling her to get off of Blaise and leave him alone that it is not proper to treat guests like that. Vanessa scoffs getting off Blaise pushing past Draco as he continues to laugh as she heads inside. Blaise stands up abruptly brushing off the snow and following Vanessa's tracks inside.

While inside Vanessa goes to find her present, as she tears open the gift she gasps in surprise as her eyes meet with her Grandmothers locket she had worn everyday before her passing that she received from her Husband before he left for war. Her eyes begin to tear up as she remembers some of her fondest memories with her Grandmother wearing that same locket. Her thoughts come to a stop as she hears Draco scream in delight after getting a new expensive broom from their parents.

She feels a breath on her shoulder as he mutters under his breath "Thats a gorgeous locket, who is it from?" She snarkily replies "I didn't know you knew that big of words. But to answer the question my Grandmother" Blaise gives her a look as he laughs and walks away. She watches him walk away as her eyes turn to the locket trying to open it quickly realizing the old clasps were rusted shut to not open. Unknowing to her Blaise was watching, he makes a mental note to fix the locket for her.
