One-shot: Obsession with Ogres

It was a beautiful day in the land of Kitakami. Bird Pokémon were chirping, the sun was shining, and-

"Hey!"

...anyway. The town of Mossui was currently in the midst of celebration. A tradition known by the locals as the Festival of Masks.

"G-Give it back!"

"Just take it back then Kiki."

*AHEM* The Festival spanned 5 days in total, nowadays it is centered around honoring the Loyal Three, a group of Pokémon that sacrificed their lives to save the people of the land generations ago from the evil-

"You know I can't reach that high!"

"Then just jump."

"I can't jump that high either!"

Okay. THAT'S IT! What the Reverse is going on over-! Oh. It's just them.

In the house closest to the foot of Oni Mountain were two siblings. The older one of a few years was a tall girl named Carmine. And the boy clawing at the air near her was her little brother Kieran. The two's dynamic was...well it was pretty typical as far as siblings went, for the most part. Carmine was currently holding a mask with an assortment of teal and green with a dash of orange out of her little brother's reach, her height and long arms playing to her advantage. Kieran, however, was jumping, reaching desperately for it. This was not the first time the girl had teased him like this, abusing the power her height and age gave her to keep Kieran's things out of reach. Although...this might just be the last time she does so.

After all, everyone has a limit. And unfortunately, or maybe even fortunately, Carmine is about to learn that lesson the hard way.

"Give it back Carmine!" Kieran whined with a hint irritation, failing to reach the mask she held high and out of his reach.

"And what're you gonna do to make me?" Carmine taunted with a smile. It was always funny watching him struggle to reach something whenever she took advantage of her long arms.

Kieran continued to desperately jump up and try to retrieve his mask, to no avail. As he failed, his expression grew frustrated with every failed attempt. This wasn't like the other times when she'd held something of his out of reach, this was different. Frustration grew to irritation. Irritation grew to anger. And anger grew to-

CRACK

"Motherf-!" Carmine cut herself off, grabbing her shin in pain as she fell to the floor, releasing the mask to better nurse her newly injured leg.

Well...anger grew to violence.

Kieran quickly swiped the mask from the air as his sister let go of it, catching it before bolting to the door. He swung the door open and quickly slammed it behind him as he ran off.

Carmine would've tried to run after the damned brat, but she was currently too busy trying not to scream in absolute agony for the already-bruised injury to her. Damn! And that was a good kick too!

"Is everything alright?!" Carmine heard her grandfather ask as he came into the room with a worried expression.

"That little shit kicked me! Feel like something could even be broken!" Carmine responded as she removed her hands for just long enough to see the area was already bruising.

Her grandfather's expression became a tad grumpy. "Please, I would prefer you not swear in this house. Let's get that patched up while you explain what happened, just try not to move it too much and keep pressure on it," he said, leaving the room quickly to retrieve some medical supplies.
