Chapter 1
Horizon
"Ugh, my head.."
The Traveler wakes up in a large plane of vast grass—a large horizon in front of him. He squints as the ball of flames hurts his eyes as he stares into its glory. Where am I? He stands up, brushes the grass and dirt off of his cloak, and looks around. There was nothing but grass and flowers shining in the sunlight. If I want to find my way home, I must start moving. He begins walking towards the horizon, in hopes of finding a way home.
How long have I been walking? There's nothing but grass everywhere I look. As he travels the vast grassy plains, he spots a hill. Quickly, reaching its highest point, he scans the plains...Nothing... Damn it. His hopes drowned as the thought of not finding a way home overwhelmed his mind. I guess I'll have to keep going. Sliding down the slope, he proceeded forward.
It wasn't long enough till his stomach started to rumble and his mouth had become dry. He had to search for a source of food and water. Deciding to listen to his body, he strays away from the rising sun to take a different path. There was still nothing but grass, yet he felt something would be in this direction.
Soon enough, a chill went down his spine, as he quickly drew his blade and proceeded with caution. After a few more paces, he is met with a dark eerie forest. It seemed to crawl with entities, Monsters not from this world. He felt drawn by this darkness as if he needed to pass through here. Before he knew it, he was engulfed by the darkness. Everything was dark, nothing was visible. This chilling feeling did not go away as he moved forward. All he had in mind was to be cautious.
...
The Traveler draws closer to me...
My darkness will consume him...
No light can pierce through here... No light at all...
...
Drawn To Darkness
The breeze was soft and quiet, the bushes rustling as he continued past them. His senses were at their peak, tightly gripping his blade, knuckles turning white. The metallic white of his katana began to glow, shining a path through the darkness.
"This light helps, Yet this forest has me on edge." he thought aloud
Out of nowhere, an entity jumped out of the bush and attacked him. With his high alert, he was quick enough to dodge its attack. The entity was warped and looked as if it was in pain. Perhaps the entities have been affected by the gods. He pointed his blade at the entity, it backed away and fled, not wanting to be harmed. Strange. Keeping his blade drawn, he continued forward.
He found a couple of berry bushes, making sure they weren't poisonous, he gathered a few for later. He set out a small area to rest and relax, laid out very large leaves on the ground, and grabbed a log and a bunch of sticks. With all of this, he managed to make a small camp for resting. He let out a sigh, reminiscing of what had happened. My father is dead and so is the rest of the village. Curse the gods! The only place I can go is to my mother. I must find her. His destination was set, all he needed was rest. After filling up on the berries he collected, he dozed off into sleep, his blade dimming.
While he was asleep, a small figure hopped out of the bushes and sneaked over to his camp. This figure was short and had long hair. A bright aura shined from this figure, waking The Traveler. He opened his eyes to see the bright light shining on his face. He put his hand over his eyes. The light slowly faded away to reveal a small nymph sitting at his campfire. The nymph hadn't noticed him yet as he reached for his sword. Reaching, the blade had fallen over making noise and alerting the nymph. The nymph quickly jumped with fright and turned around to look at him.
