Zoe and I didn't get date nights that often anymore, between our jobs and basic life stuff, it just seemed to always pass us by. Plus financially we couldn't always travel. So I was thrilled when she suggested a weekend trip to a cabin in the mountains for us. Also to my surprise Zoe planned the whole thing alone.
We packed our bags and headed out early on Friday afternoon, it was only a short 2 hour drive to the mountains, then another 30 into what seemed like the middle of nowhere to our cabin.
Once we got in we unpacked our things and decided to go into town for dinner and drinks that night. Zoe picked a quiet little gastropub that was about half full that night for dinner. We had some amazing food and decided the ambiance was nice and moved to their bar for drinks. The bar was dimly lit and hosted a few other patrons as we grabbed a seat.
"I think they are looking at us" Zoe said quietly between her teeth, as to try and not tip them off. They were another couple sitting down at the other end of the bar he was a man in his late 30s/early 40s with a beard and dad bod build, she was a smaller BBW who's dress dipped and showed how voluptuous she was just looking at her top half. As I made eye contact with him Zoe hit my leg "don't stare" she murmured, but it was too late, he saw me and raised his glass to me, which I did back. Zoe then smiled and gave a half wave to which the woman obliged back. "Oh no, friendly people!" I jokingly said to Zoe as she told me to shut up.
