Your limbs, for the first you can remember, were limber. Your joints weren't stiff and you bones didn't creak that much. Despite this, River still continuously turned around as he led you to ensure you were doing fine as though he were an RPG guide.

Of course you were a little slow. You were hooked to an IV and truly walking somewhere that wasn't in River's walled in parking lot or whatever it is.

You were in a familiar place, being able to spot the door that led to the mirrored room; The room River hosed you down. The garage doors were pulled up and sunlight poured through them but I was unlike when you first came.

When you first arrived, it was early morning then too. But it was wildly different. Back then, it was loud and bustling with guards and screams as soldiers tortured and dragged the infected across the concrete floor. Looking closely (and smelling closely) you could still see the result of struggles staining the floor.

And yet, right now, there are no cars, no soldiers, and no odd or bone chilling sounds.

It was just you and River walking past the entrance.

River began to unlock a metal door with a ring of an insane amount of keys, looking through them all.

"What happened to everyone? To all the other infected bring kept here?" you asked, your voice able to show at least a sliver of emotion.

River peered over his shoulder at you and sighed out his nose, "Died. Average infected typically die after a mere week." he returned to his keys.

Though that didn't really explain what'd happen to the none-average infected, the SS class.

With a click, River pushed the heavy door open revealing a room resembling one from an old fashioned detective movie. Three sections of room; Two separated with glass poked with a few holes for conversation and a third "secret" room off to the right that was indicated by a one way glass.

It seemed River would be watching his little experiment from a safe distance.

"Sit, I'll go get the second party." River ordered, pulling out the chair for you before leaving through the door.

A moment passed where you just stared at the concrete floor, the buzzing of the dimmed fluorescent lights permeating your thoughts.

Finally, the door in the other side of the glass opener, River holding a boys shoulder harshly, pushing him in without care for his well-being.

It was the boy from before. Black hair and a large windbreaker coat made him look either like a rebellious teen or a homeless man. You couldn't decide.

River slammed the door, leaving you and the boy as he presumably left to enter his viewing room.

...

"You are clear for conversation." Rivers voice passed through an unknown static speaker before the boy had even sat down.

The boy slumped down into his seat. He say up straight but fidgeted with his zipper and noticeably untense his shoulders just to become stuff again in a few moments.

You stared at him, a venom in your stomach you couldn't identify. You weren't sure why you were so... angry at this boy.

"W-Why...? (Y/N)..." the boy spoke, making your flesh fall cold as negative emotions flooded you, anger, fear, and the reminder of your own name, "N-No, I... I can't be angry at you. You should be angry at me... for failing to protect you."

The boy hung his head, tears pricking his eyes as he clenched his jaw and swallowed hard, it looked physically painful.

"Are you? A-Angry at me..?" the boy looked up just enough to meet your eyes.

He didn't like what he saw.

He saw a deep fury buried within your glassed eyes, just above the dark circles beneath and those above your pale black-veined cheeks.

The boy was seeing what he'd caused, and he hates himself for it.

You didn't even say anything. If you did, your have likely just insulted him. You aren't sure how, but you're sure you would've. So you simply kept your throat locked.

"I thought that... it was time I grew up. I can't just chase a family I never had s-so I- I..." the boy blubbered out in hiccups, his breath horrendously shaky as he struggled to breath under panic, "I infected y-you. I thought that- that if you couldn't move, you couldn't leave! I caused you so much pain-! I'm sorry, I'm- I'm sorry, I hurt you so much- I'm so sorry!! You deserved better!!!"

The boy folded, pulling at his hair and curling up, pulling his prominent knees up to his head as sobbed into the encompassing fabric of his coat. His small body looked as though he could cave into himself.

You wracked your head to its limit, you couldn't fucking remember what this boy did, only remembering that he did something.

He infected you? When?

It was before River, obviously...

That last thing you remember was calling to someone... but you don't remember who. You were being suffocated at the time you think.

"This conversation is going nowhere, switch out boy." You heard River's voice call out again, interrupting your thoughts.

The boys head shot up to look at you, "Say something, anything- please!! I don't care if you hate me, just please- talking to me...!"

In mere moments, River opened the door on the boys side and the boy treated him with animosity. As River pointed some sort of tranquilizer at him, the boy rushed to attack him.

River didn't even blink, shooting him before dragging him like a dead body out of the room.

Just outside of the room you couldn't here people and River talking.

"Is he okay?"

"Obviously. Head in, and don't piss me off."

Following River's order, the second person came in.

It was an older man. He looked vaguely similar to the previous boy beside his significantly more masculine build. Same hair, skin tone, and eye shape.

He looks familiar as well, had you seen him recently..?

1043 Words. Unedited.

Tired, lazy, and fighting lack of motivation. Half my story is missing from the one plot and I've nowhere to plug it and I feel the only way to rectify that is to tear the whole story down and start from the ground up. Half of the relationships/dynamics are missing so I feel the characters are dead.

Why the infection slowed down, how it all started, how the cures are coming along, the state of the rest of the world, the Desert Lung Disease hasnt even BEEN INTRODUCED YET, the backstories are missing, several arcs including the beginning one within the house which wouldve included revolution aspects and several more Leo scenes and a vigilante arc that was between the MC's infection and Charles introduction that had the MC using the wheels of a bike to grind the necks off zombies, and generally the entire build up and decent of the MC's mind was CUT from the whole story.

Speaking of cutting, the only reason this story (which is one of three simultaneous stories happening during the infection) had been written as an X Reader is because story wise out of the three MC's of the three stories, Asylum's MC is the ONLY ONE who is written to intentionally be faceless.

Why?

BECAUSE THE MC WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN TO BE HEADLESS. You'd have lost it during that fight with the big guy in the basement of the school. I figured it'd be fine to omit that but after a few days I realized just how much of the story has been omitted.

Its fine to keep your head, but so much is missing beside that.

+ Quotev (where I'm writing this) is glitching tf out BAD
