Today is the demon boar feast. Every year the king and one of the royals from each bloodline goes out to try and find the six-foot beast. It's a tradition that runs in my family. This is my first year participating for one reason. My father is finally stepping down and giving me his thrown. Vampire king.

Ever since 95% of the human population died during the Lazurious pandemic the world has been taken over by vampires. I've never met a human before. I've only heard stories about how much they hated our kind. How we used to be hunted by them. So when the world died it was a relief to my people. Fortunately, I was born a million years after that happened.

You're probably wondering how we survive without human blood. We don't need it anymore. We drink the blood of animals. Although it doesn't completely satisfy us most of us don't know what human blood feels like.

"Are you ready Damon?" Justin asks. I turn to look at him baring my fangs. He's been my rival since college. We played football together and were always in competition. This is more than just a competition though. That Boar has more than enough blood to satisfy a vampire for months. I won't miss this chance to quench my thirst.

"Ready to kick your ass? Yes, actually I am." I grin.

Justin rolls his eyes. "You may be the king's son, but that doesn't make you the best at hunting. I've been training for years and that boar will be mine."

I laugh in his face. "You need to be worried about your other competitors. You're all going to lose." I say scanning my eyes over the other three princes. Prince Hardin, Prince Kieth, and Prince Zack. Only one of us will win today and that will be me.
