Eight hours had gone by. Eight. You had been basically playing Blue Lock for an entirety of a 9 to 5 job, and the crazy part was, you felt as if you could play for another eight.Blue lock was known around the world as "the game to watch". It's the most popular E-sport across the globe, even if its only participants are from Japan. You hear about it all over international news, and even more so locally in Japan. The tournament has only ran for two years, this being the third, yet about everyone and their mother knows the name "Blue Lock."
It was crazy addictive, but not in the cheap, gambling way. In the sense that every time you kicked a shot into the goal, you leveled up your skills in real life and became slightly, slightly better as a player. The trick to Blue Lock was that there were no in-game stats to exploit: only your individual talent as a gamer in the real world.
This was your final game of the first round. For the first selection, it was explained by Ego that it would be just like last year: You vs. AI. At first, you were on a team of eleven AI bots up against another eleven AI bots, that were coded to adapt to your play style and continue to grow stronger over the course of the match. It was designed to be some sort of placement round to assess your skills as a player. Naturally, you demolished this round.
Second came the actual teams that Ego talked about. To your surprise and upmost delight, you were on a team with Isagi, Chigiri, and Bachira right off the bat.
"Holy shit... HOLY—!" You had screamed into the mic when you saw Isagi's gamertag— isagogo— over his wonky character that mildly resembled him. Needless to say, when Bachira and Chigiri showed up moments later, you four had a communal stroke together.
Ego did his research— you were sure it was on purpose for popularity reasons. It was a huge hit, after all. Your fans went rabid, and continued to go rabid, seeing their favorite streamers being put together in a professional tournament instead of some rag-tag mario kart match.
The second section commenced, and the four of you, plus the rest of your team, fought several bouts against AI teams for about four hours.
Finally, you were up against Blue Lock man once again. For the last hour, you were meant to score 100 goals with increasing difficulties as time went on. If you failed to do so, you'd have to "lock off". But you didn't— you succeeded shooting 100 goals in 47 minutes.
Now, you were on twitter, anxiously refreshing the page to scout for the rankings of players. So many questions zoomed through your mind: How did you do? How many players were left? Did Isagi and the other two make the top 50? Are you even—
