My head pounds. I lazily dart my eyes up only to see a slim figure glaring down at me with fire in her eyes. "Blair." I whisper. "Why the fuck are you on this dirty floor Emory?" her face twists in disgust. "I just needed a minute to myself." I pull myself up rubbing at my cold arms. A pressure forming below my eyebrows and the middle of my forehead. Fucking sinus.
Blair's arms cross. "Oh you needed a minute? Wow." she laughs. I sigh. "Blair before you say anything I tried to save him I swear I did. I tried the best I could–" my voice breaks. "Save it." her hand rises. "You didn't try. You didn't save him. You didn't do your best." I clamped my mouth shut. I had no time for this. I sigh before turning to Blair again.
"Blair, look I really tried everything I could to save him and I know you're hurt and upset. It just all happened so fast. He was not holding up, he was not going to make it." Blair's eyes were filled with hatred. She charged toward me. I almost thought she'd swing on me. Her breath fans my face as she points a finger at me. "I'm going to make sure that you get fired. You call yourself a nurse?" she scoffs. "Shit you couldn't even save my boyfriend! And that is your job. To save people."
My eyes swell up as I look at her with pain. I can't believe how much hatred she has for me. I sniffle and my lip quivers. "Blair I didn't ..." Blair's ocean eyes roll. She nudges her shoulder into mine brushing past me. "You're not a nurse Emory. You're a monster and I hate you. I wish it was you that died instead." I stare at her in disbelief. My sister hates me and that was that. "What is wrong with you Blair?!" I shout at her, grabbing her arm. She yanks her arm away clenching her teeth. "No Emory, what is wrong with you?" She looks like a raging bull. "You're the one who let him die. This is all your fault." Blair has tears streaming down her face, and for the first time I feel like I want to die. I wished I was the one who died and not Darin.
