Caitlin POV

I like to walk Churro around in the neighborhood every morning and after work and everytime we walk in front of her porch. I notice her wearing her usual long coat and hard look while sitting at the front of her doorstep like watching our neighborhood. Something I thought is an expected thing to do when you are the new guy in the community. Churro on the other hand is always hard to control whenever he sees her.

"I'm very sorry about Churro. He is normally well mannered."

"Don't worry about it. I am not very likable at all."

"Hey don't be too hard on yourself. Look if you need someone to talk to I am just around the corner it is not nice to keep it all in."

"You are too warm, it's blinding."

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing. I have to get inside now. I will see you around."

"Alright see you."

----------------------------------------------

I was practicing my baking skills recently and the best way to know is to have someone to taste my product for me.

I walked across the street and as expected she was just there sitting on her doorstep sipping on her cold frappe drink. I opened her wooden gate and announced my presence.

"Do you normally barge in your neighbor's homes like that?"

"Well you were aware and staring so I thought if you mind you would have shooed me away."

"I could never, I like keeping you close."

"Well as long as we know our boundaries."

"That's rich coming from you."

"Okay stop being rude now. I am here to give you a neighbor welcome present as an apology for my dog's intrusive behavior lately." I took her hand and dragged her inside her home.

"The dog is as intrusive as the owner if I may add."

"Can't you be a little nice? I am trying to be a good neighbor here."

"I am neither."

We continued to walk inside with her hand clasped in mine despite feeling the coldness in her extremity. Her nature is as cold as her house, devoid of anything that could make it look homey at all.

"It's too dark in here."

"I prefer it this way." I blindly look in her drawers in the kitchen and found nothing useful right now.

"How do you even eat?"

"Takeouts and deliveries come with disposables. It is easier that way."

"That's not healthy."

"It doesn't matter to me."

"Hey if you wanna die young that's on you." And she simply shrugged in return. I don't know how to deal with a person like her. It is the first time I met someone who doesn't give a fuck in this world.

I dragged her to my home coz there is no way she will be able to eat this pie properly.

I saw Churro staring with those judging eyes. "Be nice baby." Its brows furrowed with a concerned look.

"For some reason Churro is not really fond of you."

"For a good reason."

"Are you an astrologer or something? You seem like someone who can predict the future. You better tell me now if I will meet the love of my life soon."

"I am not any of those you mentioned and I can't say anything to change..."

"Change what?"

"Nothing. I wanna have some of the pie you were very proud of earlier."

"Oh yeah I almost forgot why I brought you here in the first place." I stood up. "But we are not done yet."

I grabbed a plate and a spoon. I found myself cutting the pie and helping her to taste it as if she is one helpless fellow. "How was it?"

She thought for a while but didn't reply so I took a spoonful in my mouth not minding we just shared the same spoon. "Well it wasn't that bad you could have been a little nicer about it."

"What is easier to say? To be brutally honest or to tell what people wanted to hear?"

That is a difficult question to answer. I swear her mind is pretty odd but intriguing..

"I guess it depends on how close you are to the person or how important that person is."

"Okay. I have to go."

"Tell me how I should address you though? You have already made it to my house yet I don't know what to call you."

"Bea. It was nice to finally meet you Caitlin."

I was initially creeped out. Is this person about to kill me or something?

"Hey how did you know that?"

She pointed at my necklace, turned around tucked her hands on her pocket then walked away. That cold mysterious aura is nothing short of addicting.

------------------------------------------

I was combing my hair in my bedroom upstairs in front of the mirror and I looked at it as my eyes fell on my necklace. "CAIT" Is it that easy to put two and two together or is she hiding something? I went to look at my bedroom window as I saw her threw a black bag in the bin before sitting in her porch and lighting up a cigarette. Then her eyes caught mine. I immediately ducked feeling my heart beating wildly inside my ribcage.
