“Ananya, you have to be strong. You can do this,” she whispered to herself in front of the mirror, forcing a smile. “What could possibly happen? Just do your best, don’t get nervous.
Everyone says they’re nice people, so nothing to worry about, right? Everything will be fine.”
Despite her words, a knot of anxiety twisted in her stomach.
For the first time, she was about to live with a family who wanted her as their son’s wife—just to see if she and Varun could truly imagine a life together. It felt surreal and a bit overwhelming.
And they also said that nothing will be happening to her and they said this with guarantee and why not, my whole family knows them and they do too.
But still how can she live with them, when she see them as strangers.
Lost in her thoughts, her mother, Neelam, called from the hallway, “Varun will be here in 20 minutes! Check your bag to make sure you have everything you need, and come downstairs when you’re ready.”
Then, with a smile of excitement, her mother disappeared to handle other last-minute details.
Ananya couldn’t help but think, Does everyone want me to leave that badly? A frown creased her forehead. I shouldn’t have made them worry so much. They’re all so happy because I’m going…
After ensuring she had everything packed, she took a deep breath, grabbed her suitcase, and headed downstairs.
Her heart warmed at the sight of her family gathered to see her off, but that warmth faded when she spotted Varun, surrounded by them, drawing all their attention.
She had only seen Varun in photos, but he was even more handsome in person—tall, wearing a fitted black T-shirt and grey pants.
There was an undeniable magnetism about him. Everything, from the way he sat casually to how he ran his fingers through his hair, made her heart race.
He’s still a stranger, she reminded herself, and I need to know if he’s a good guy first.
Varun Singh rathod
As she approached, she noticed he wasn’t alone. Beside him was a little boy, about four or five years old, munching on chocolate cookies—the very ones she had baked for herself the day before.
A smile crept onto her face at the sight of his delight.
When her family noticed her, they beckoned her forward. Her father, Virendra, said proudly, “Meet my daughter, Ananya.
And Ananya, this is Varun. And this little fellow here is his nephew—” before he could finish, the boy stepped forward with enthusiasm.
“I can introduce myself!” the boy announced. “Hello! My name is Kiyansh Singh Rathod, and I’m four and a half years old! I love chocolate, especially these chocolate cookies! They’re soooo tasty!”
Ananya couldn’t help but chuckle. Her mother chimed in, “If you like them that much, you can ask Ananya to make more for you.”
Kiyansh’s cute smile melted her heart. “Dii, when you come with us, will you make them for me, pleaseeee?”
Ananya thought, 'You don’t have to charm me with your cuteness; I’d fill your room with cookies just to see that smile'.
Out loud, she replied with a warm grin, “Of course, if that’s what you want, I’ll make them just for you!”
