8 am
“Meera, Meera, wake up sona. It's already 8 am. Don’t you have college today?” Swagata shouted from the living room of their flat. Meera pulled the cover more and shifted in her bed uncomfortably but she knew her mother well. If she comes into her room there will be another lecture not waking up early. Her mother Mrs Swagata Chatterjee is a Maths professor at the City Memorial College of Mumbai where she is studying economics honors. She loves her mother to the moon back. She is a sweet and kind lady but sometimes being a professor's daughter sucks. Lectures become part of your life and you can not do anything about it. Indian mothers!!!
looking at the clock, she decided to wake up or her mother would come anytime. Her long caramel hair falls at her back effortlessly, and her natural pink lips with slightly rosy cheeks are a sight to sore eyes. Yes, she is indeed a beautiful young girl with hazel eyes and a fair complexion. although she is a kathak dancer, she has curves at the right places which enhances her confidence.
After doing morning business, she chose a pink crop top and blue jeans for college. with little makeup, winged liner and nude lips she came for breakfast in the dining area.
“Dimag kharab hai tumhara Tia, phir se tumne mere kindle ko hath lagaya?” she glares at her 16-year-old annoying sister who is enjoying her school break. Yes, both the Bengali sisters are bookworms and hopelessly romantic.
“Chill di, main ap ki dark romance wali books ko haat bhi nahi lagaungi” Tia winked at her.
clearing of the throat at the dining table brought back the sisters from their silly fights.
“Good morning baba. How come you are home today? don't have a meeting to attend?” She enquired about her father Mr Tarun Roy who is the advocate general of Maharashtra and works with the Chief Minister. He was hardly home due to the work pressure he had but he is a family man with a good heart.
“Yes Sona, hai na but aj thora late hai meeting. Come have breakfast with me today.” he gestured to his younger daughter to join them also. Both the sisters sit at the dining table to have breakfast.
“What is Tia talking about in your novel collection?” he enquired Meera looking between Meera and Tia. Both of them gulped at his question.
“nothing baba, aap to janti ho na yeh feel baite karti hai” she replied glaring at Tia, in return she smiled nervously.
“How was your dance practice going Sona?” Tarun enquired sipping his Darjeeling tea.
“good baba. I hope you can make it this time.” Meera answers while eating toast with butter.
“I hope so, Sona. The chief guest is the chief minister himself so I think I may tag along and the CM also told me that Randhir might join him also if his schedule permits." Tarun said it casually.
Hearing Randhir’s name both the sisters stop eating and look at each other, while Meera nervously gulps, Tia smirks in her direction.
“Really baba, is Randhir dada also coming? Then you don't have to worry much. Di will give her the best performance. hai na Di?”
listening to her younger daughter Tarun gave a questioning look to his daughter. Is there something in his daughter's life that he is missing, he thought to himself.
Meera meanwhile closed her eyes tightly at Tia’s remark. how can she say something like that and also in front of their father? Now, she regrets her decision to tell Tia about her crush on Randhir two years ago. After that, she left no stone turned to tease her to death. who she is kidding, Tia is someone with no filter in her mouth and also a pain in the ass sometimes. She is intelligent for a 16-year-old and eventually finds out without telling her what she thought that time but now she regrets it badly.
“Tia, what are you saying? don't you have school homework to do? Meera said it in a low voice sending a clear threat to shut her mouth up or the worst is coming.
Tarun sees Meera is glaring at Tia but he will pass the topic for now. There are other important things to worry about on his plate with upcoming elections and work pressures.
After that breakfast went smoothly without Tia’s any teasing and Meera was thankful for that.
Meera was in love with Randhir for almost two years now. Apart from Tia , Randhir's cousin Janvi also knows about Meera’s one sided love for Randhir. Both of them are classmates and also best friends from childhood.
The Roy family and Deshmukh Family are family friends. Tarun Roy and Rajendra Deshmukh , Randhir's father, both are college friends. They both cracked UPSC together. After a few years of service, Rajendra left the civil service and joined politics. In the initial year of his career, Tarun supported him and stood beside him as a backbone.
