"Mn... Uugh..."
A strained groan emanated from Sumiko's throat, the throbbing sensation in her body settling in once she gained consciousness. Her muscles were weighing her down like a slab of lead, the sensation making her numb as she shuffled uncomfortably in place more. With her eyes still closed shut, she decided to rest a bit in order for the soreness to wane as she could still feel her head spinning and twisting.
Strangely enough, soft chirping sounds graced her ears, ones that were akin to crickets – and when those sounds wouldn't stop, a grimace briefly morphed on her expression before Sumiko decided to crack her blurry eyes open, the grogginess still lingering within. It took a while until she could see clearly again, taking nearly a full minute until her vision regained complete focus and revealing she was lying on her back.
Staring upwards to the boundless night sky.
The view mesmerized her, the little white dots in the sky glimmering while the sound of crickets chirping in the background provided some kind of respite from an aching sensation of crossing through something unpleasant.
At that moment, everything came in full force like a freight train.
Sumiko sat up in an instant as a whirlwind of her recent memories flooded her head, a sense of urgency quickly gnawing on her veins. Her dark crimson eyes darted to her surroundings, noticing several trees and bushes, with irregular terrain of land and rock. Looking down, she was No longer clad in her Demon Slayer uniform, but something that seemed like it was pulled out of one of those fantasy books Nezuko used to read
She was wearing a cropped, white top adorned with intricate gold patterns and small shoulder guards, long lavender gloves, and a short white skirt with gold accents. Layers of green fabric draped down her sides like a regal cape, complemented by thigh-high white stockings and gold-and-white boots. Green ribbons and gold ornaments adorned her outfit, and a green checkered shoulder band.
Her sword also looked kind of different, yet she couldn't exactly identify what had changed. Atleast Rengoku's hilt stayed
Other than seemingly waking up in the dead of night and her clothes magically changing, Sumiko composed herself momentarily as a plethora of thoughts raced through her head, attempting to remember what happened to her prior to her current situation.
Transparently, Sumiko remembered her conversation with the First Breath User. Afterward, there was a path, a cliff, a bridge, and then a door; where the latter glowed with a pristine white aura, subsequently encompassing her entire being when she entered the light. What happened after she was swallowed by the light, however, proved to be a vague piece of her recollections, only managing to reawaken from what felt like a long sleep. Now, the question remains to be answered:
Where was she?
Choosing to stand on her feet, Sumiko straightened her form before she began to survey her newfound environment. No less, she found herself yet in another forest, the pleasant cool breeze in the air gently hitting her face and brushing her ruffled hair.
"W-What is this place?" the girl murmured, looking around warily. Having no knowledge of where the stone door put her or what kind of forest she was shoved into, her mind decided to scope the area - but before she could do so, a thin scent wafted in the air, making her nose twitch instinctively.
"I smell... food."
Sumiko craned her neck towards the direction of the oddly flavorful aroma, letting her heightened sense of smell guide her; somehow enticing her to investigate as thinly-veiled curiosity tempted her to take a stroll through the veil of vegetation to reach it.
