My name is Emma. I've been the starting quarterback and team captain for the West Florida Argonauts for 2 years.
I walked into the locker room, eager for practice. Coach Johnson walked in with a new guy who was around 6 feet tall with blond hair. "Everyone, this is Austin. He just transferred here and will be competing for the starting quarterback job." My jaw dropped. I've never had competition before. We walked out to the field and I got ready to take the snap when I heard Coach Johnson yelling, "Emma, get out. I'm putting Austin in." I was angered. I've never been told to get out before. I angrily walked to the bench and watched Austin throw a perfect spiral right into the hands of our receiver. Once he returned to the sidelines, Coach praised him. He completed all of his passes.
"Mom, dad, Gracie, Lily, I'm home!" I shouted as I walked into the house. "Hey honey. How was practice?" my mom asked. "Bad, this new guy named Austin joined. Coach really seems to prefer him over me", I responded. My dad responded, "show him that you're the best quarterback at WF." "It's not fair," Gracie and Lily complained. West Florida doesn't need him. After dinner, I went upstairs to my room, still upset over what happened at practice.
Note: this is my first story so it may be bad.
