In the dark of the night

Jessies POV

I was in a field of grass on the right was a large oak tree. I looked around with deep awe. He was doing this. I know what would happen next he would change all of this. So I waited and waited. I'm a horror writer I live for nightmares. He gave me the ideas. He helped me through these things. He didn't know it yet but I was the one he could see him in shadows, when I'm awake. It's a good thing. I oddly enough feel safe when I'm in my nightmares. Why am I telling you this? You wouldn't know what it's like.

The fields changed into grave yard and death poisoned the air. Moaning and groaning of corpses. My dream self shivered with fright. Shadows stalked me and loomed like dead trees. Screeching of owls and howls of wind. Corpses hands shot out and clawed at the earth you know the kind of way a zombie movie starts out? My dream self jumped and screamed in fright. A shadowed figure grinned in delight.

That was the end of it. A mad man he was. He was evil. I didn't care. I wasn't alone. I checked my shadows on the wall. I smirked.

" Yeah good morning to you too," I yawned and went to my desk and worked on my third horror novel Darkness: Whispers in the Shadows. Book one Darkness. Book two: Secrets in the dark. All of them a horror series about a girl a boy and an evil shadow knight. I wrote what was in my dream vividly. When I turned the shadows were gone. My daughter woke up screaming and I scowled. I'll speak with him later. Quickly I ran to her room and held her close. I rubbed her back and she told me her dream.

" Mommy I saw him. I saw him. He was at the foot of my bed and I saw him! Mommy he was scary , he was ......" she trailed off.

I soothed her and smiled. She went back to sleep. Now here, she's not my birth daughter no. I'm only nineteen but I did adopt her because no one else wanted her. She wasn't wanted because she believed in The Guardians ,as he told me. He wasn't one but he does know them. By now you should know who I'm talking about. I shouldn't even say the name.

When the shadows on the wall crept in, I knew he was there.

" Don't you even think about it Pitch. I know your there," I said sarcastically rolling my eyes.

" Tsk tsk and to think I could scare the Princess of Horror," A soft yet cold voice spoke sarcastically.

" Yeah well some of us just don't care about fear when your creating your own," I spat.

" Touchy, what's up with you?" he asked.

I frowned just rolled my eyes. He left after that and I continued my story.

" Mommy! Mommy! Jack's here!" Abby screamed in delight.

I rolled my eyes. I finally got up and set my pencil down. I headed down the hall and saw my brother sitting with Abbey. I chuckled and ran to hug my brother. He didn't hug back and I knew something was up.

" Pitch was here, wasn't he?" he asked coldly. Coldly? Get that? No? Okay.

"Abbs go to your room. Jack and I have to talk," I said and Abbey left, " Look just because I'm immortal and not a Guardian doesn't mean I can totally hate Pitch!"

Jack frowned.

" After you 'died' mom and dad totally forgot about me because they were so focused on you! I went back to the lake and I cried for hours. When I saw you playing with those kids thirty years later, I was happy shocked and hurt. Hurt because you never showed yourself to me! Happy well I knew you were alive and okay. Shocked was because I thought I was dreaming. When mom and da abandoned me I thought I was alone. Then man in the moon made me immortal why I don't know," I said on the verge of crying I paused and looked into his blue eyes," And Pitch hasn't hurt me. He's helping me with my writing."

Jack's face contorted from shock, hurt, to beaming with joy. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

" I'm sorry for not coming to you first. I thought no body could see me until now," Jack said.

I shrugged," It doesn't matter now. Past is past. How's the rest?"

" They're fine. When did you get Abbey?"

He nodded and smiled.

" I like her. She reminds me of you," he said with a small laugh, he looked at the time and frowned," I have to go sis but it was nice to see you."

I hugged my brother again and he finally hugged back. When I let go he walked out the door. I felt tears fall from my face freely.
