If you asked someone what they thought of banks marrow they would have one phrase that comes to mind; a closed book that no one dared to open. It's not that she wasn't nice or that she didn't trust anyone, she just liked to keep to herself. She hated having people worry about her and would have preferred to handle it herself. She has been hard wired that way ever since she was a young girl and her parents often left her to fend for herself while they took care of her younger siblings.
So that's how she lived; closed off to everyone she met until she knew they wouldn't push her to a back burner or leave her broken. Maybe that's the reason she chose to go to school to become a social worker, to help make sure people were in stable places and were never put to the back of anyone's mind. She left her small hometown and hoped to start anew; make a name for herself that didn't reflect the murkiness of the life she lived before she was nineteen.
Once she graduated college her sights were set on becoming more; being able to help more people than just the ones social workers could. She knew her sister had attended the FBI Academy, so she decided to follow in her younger sister's footsteps. She worked and she worked every day, excelling in all of her classes and checking every important box she needed to, until the day of graduation in which she participated in being the top of her class.
Her achievement just like her younger sister's landed her a spot in the Behavioral Analysis Unit or the BAU; one of the bigger deals when it came to units at the FBI. From the day she set foot in the office it felt like home, a sense of belonging she hadn't felt in years.
She met Doctor Spencer Reid as soon as she stepped into the BAU. As soon as he started spouting off his facts, she knew they'd be friends. And she was right, the two became inseparable from that day, they were at their best when they worked in tandem.
