CHAPTER 2 : A Night to Remember

Kyra woke up to the sound of her alarm blaring in her ear. She groggily reached over to turn it off, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It was a new day, which meant a fresh start. She got dressed in a hurry, grabbing her backpack and heading downstairs to grab a quick fruit before heading out the door.

Throughout the day, Kyra went through the misfortunes of attending her classes without much enthusiasm. Her mind kept wandering back to the memories that had flooded her mind the night before. But she pushed them aside, instead focusing on the present.

As soon as the final bell rang, Kyra's phone buzzed with a text from Camillã. "Hey, wanna hit the clubs tonight? I've got free time and it's finally friday"

Kyra's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't been out in ages, but something about tonight felt different. She typed out a quick "Yeah, sure" and sent it off.

The few hours at home were tense, her mom was sober but her stepdad drunk and belligerent. Kyra avoided them, now heading upstairs to get ready for the night.

She slipped into a tight, red dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. Her hair was still in tight braids from earlier, but she quickly unwound them and styled her hair in loose, bouncy curls. A swipe of Fenty Bomb Heat and some lash clusters later, Kyra was ready to take on the night and see what waited for her, or who.

"Hey, Mom, I'm heading out," Kyra called out, grabbing her keys to her BMW x6.

Her mom looked up from the television, a hint of worry in her eyes. "Be safe, okay?"

Kyra nodded silently and headed out the door, feeling a sense of freedom wash over her.

She arrived at the club, the music pounding through her ears. Camillã was already there, waving her over to the VIP section. Kyra followed the bouncers, feeling like she finally had peace for the night.

As they made their way through the crowded club, Kyra couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Tonight was going to be a night she didn't want to regret.

Kyra made her way to the dance floor after meeting camillã's "friend", allowing all of her worries to flow away and be replaced with euphoria from the music
     going through her ears.

EVERETT'S POV:

I sat in the VIP booth, glancing at couples and other teens , when I saw her. She was like a daydream, in red. Her dress holding her like an elastic glove. Her makeup was flawless, and her hair cascaded down her back like a never ending waterfall. She moved with grace, her body swaying to the Lady Gaga song "paparazzi".

I was captivated. I couldn't tear my eyes away her. She seemed to radiate a confidence, a sense of self that drew me in. I watched her for what felt like hours, my gaze never wavering.

I watched her carefully as she stopped dancing, laughing as she walked farther away from the dance floor and closer to the bar.

Finally, I made my move. I walked over to the bar, my eyes locked on hers. "Mind if I join you?" I asked, sitting down next to her.

She turned to me, a smile playing on her lips. "Not at all."

I ordered my drink, Bruichladdich X4 Quadrupled Whiskey, and turned to her. "I'm Everett," I said, extending my hand.

"Kyra," she replied, her handshake firm and her voice steady.

We talked for a while, the music and laughter fading into the background. A girl by the name of camillã came over, her words slurred while saying her goodbyes to kyra, and leaving with some guy who seemed like a decent human being.

"Excuse her, she's really drunk" Kyra laughed. Kyra turned to me, her eyes gleaming as if fireworks were erupting in her pupils. "Want to dance?"

I nodded, as we lost ourselves in the music. The club was a blur, the only thing that mattered was the woman in my arms.

As the night went on, we ended up outside, driving around, talking, and getting to know each other. It was like the whole world had melted away, leaving only us.

Eventually, the clock struck 2 am. Kyra yawned, and I knew it was time to say goodbye.

"Thanks for the night, Everett," she said, her voice husky.

"Anytime, Kyra." I smiled, walking her to her car. "But I'll drive you home. You've had a few drinks."

She nodded, and we drove in comfortable silence, the only sound being the hum of the engine.

As we pulled up to her house, she turned to me. "Thanks, Everett. I really enjoyed myself."

I smiled. "Anytime, Kyra. Can I get your number before you go?"

She smiled, her eyes gleaming once more. "I don't see why not."

And with that, our night came to a close. But I knew this was just the beginning.
