Chapter 2: Who are they? (Kai)

I was walking my way to work while on a call with my wife, Marsh. When I then bumped into a kid.
"Sorry! I wasn't looking, are you okay?" I asked, lending a hand to help, which they accepted.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry, had a good day!" They said as they moved on, but I then notice something about them, that it was...the same kid from my dream!
"Wait! You look... awfully familiar. Have we met before?" I asked them as they turned around to me with a confused look.
"No, I don't think so... Wait, you look like a person I had in my dream."
"So do you! But, we never met before.. I'm sorry, what was your name again?"
"I can't tell you that, you're a stranger." They said, fixing their grip on their backpack.
"Yeah, I know. But we both saw each other in our dreams, so we had to know each other. Why would we be in our dreams then?" I stated.
"I have no idea, but I gotta go to school. Bye, I guess." The walked away from me, damn. That was kinda rude, but I picked up my phone that was on the floor.
"Kai? Kai, are you there?" Marsh asked.
"Yeah, I'm here. Just bumped into a kid I saw in my dream, that's all."
"Wait, did they look like their were in middle school, about to graduate?"
"Umm, I guess, yeah. Why you ask?"
"Because I saw that kid too! And you, with a lot of different people there too..."
"Wait, I have a question. Did I look good in it?" I asked, joking with her. She laughs
"Yeah, of course you did. You're my partner, why wouldn't you?"

(Omfg, get a room 🙄)

"Wait, did you say that?" I asked.
"No, I thought you did..." Marsh said with an unsettled tone.
Well, if you didn't say that, and I didn't, then who did?..."
