JJ.

I scowled as Mendoza walked onto the ice, this was my holy time when I had the rink to myself, what the hell was he doing here? "Come to lock me in another janitors closet?" I asked sourly.

He grinned, "still mad about that?"
"Take a wild guess genius." I replied crossing my arms, "now what do you want?"
"To ask you out." Mendoza said his voice slightly louder than usual.

I frowned, "what?"
"I said, I want to ask you out." He repeated louder this time.
"Are you okay?" I asked him confused, "did you hit your head a couple times too many at practice yesterday?"

Mendoza groaned, "I'm glad to see that Jess hasn't affected your wit." He grabbed my face turning my head so I could see Igor lurking at the door, "so JJ how about that date tonight?"

Oh. Ohhhh. I'd forgotten about that being so caught up with my sister and all, but this made so much sense because there was no universe in which Luis Mendoza would ask me out of his own free will.

"Sounds great!" I answered loudly, "Where are we going?"
"Try make it more obvious dumbass." He muttered before saying some place I'd never heard of in my life.
"Yeah because you were so smooth with it yourself." I responded in a low voice. "Perfect."

I could see Igor skull away a bitter look on his face, good. Let him stew in his misery like he had let me in mine. "You're paying by the way." I told him starting my skate again.

"Aren't you loaded?" Mendoza asked me making his way out of the rink.
"Yeah, but I'm also a girl who likes to be treated well." I told him pointedly, "what should I wear?"
"Something pretty, I don't know. Figure it out." He responded shaking his head.

If there was a bar for fake dating we were setting it beyond low. Because we were doing a horrendous job.

Luis.

I don't know why I'd asked JJ out, she'd kind of forgotten about the whole fake dating thing and there had been no need for me to bring it up again. But Igor had made some stupid comment about 'trouble in paradise' and then Banks had asked me if JJ even remembered she was my girlfriend so id gone and done it.

I'd wanted to piss Igor off and shut Adam up, he didn't even have a fake girlfriend let alone a real one. At least I had JJ even if she had severe anger issues and a lot of problems. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't so bad.

I had to wait for her in our hotel lobby since she'd banned me from her room out of spite. JJ came down five minutes after me wearing a white, shirt summer dress and light blue cardigan.

She looked uncharacteristically sweet in that outfit, "nice legs!" One of Igors equally horrible friends called to her across the lobby, "when do they open?"
JJ shot him a death glare, "way past your bed time asshole!"

And there she was. Not that I was complaining, I would take JJ's snarky remarks over some boring conversation any day. She might have been a massive pain in my ass when she wanted to but at least things were never dull with her.

"Let's get the hell out of here." She said slinging her arm through mine.
"Nicely done by the way." I told her jerking my head towards he idiot who'd catcalled her.
She grinned, "knocking morons like that down a peg is one of my favourite pass times."

No surprise there.

I'd gotten the concierge to recommend some burger place near our hotel for the date and then write down the directions for me. It was nothing massively special but it would be fine.

We sat down at our table before a waitress with a bottle of still water rushed up to us. "Hi my name is Becca and I'll be your waitress for the evening. Anything I can get you?" She asked blinking a lot, it was like there was something stuck in her eye. She dropped her name tag that she'd been dissolving with in the floor and grabbed into my leg to keep her balance while she picked it up, "sorry. How clumsy of me."

I shrugged, "don't worry about it."
She smiled blinking fast again, "you're too sweet. You're girlfriend is so lucky to have you."
I bit back a laugh, I didn't think JJ would agree with her on that.

"We're still deciding." JJ told her sharply interrupting her. I could tell from the look on her face that this girl had severely pissed her off.
When Becca was out of earshot, she rolled her eyes, "it might have been easier to just throw herself at you."

I snorted, "what?"
JJ nodded, "she was totally flirting with you!"
I shook my head dismissively, "come on, she was just being smiley. She only dropped the badge because there was something in her eye, that's probably why she was blinking so much."

JJ shot me an incredulous look, "she was batting her eyelashes you idiot."
I had not picked up on that at all. "Really?"
"Oh yeah. And as if grabbing into your leg for support couldn't have made it anymore obvious." She added annoyed, "she's our age, not eighty, she has enough muscle and balance to lean down and grab the badge without support."

I grinned at her, "Jerome, you wouldn't be, jealous would you?"
JJ scoffed, "not even in your wildest dreams Mendoza. I just don't appreciate my fake boyfriend being flirted with when I have appearances to keep up. Especially not when the girl doing it looks like a deer caught in head lights."

I laughed at the comment, Becca did have a bit of a permanently startled look to her. "If you say so. I'm going to chalk it up to jealousy though."
She glared at me, "don't you dare."
"Oh too late for that. I'm chalking as we speak." I told her smiling at the furious expression on her face.

JJ kicked me under the table, "you unchalk that right now Luis Mendoza."
"Never in your wildest dreams." I teased her.
"Moron." JJ muttered glowering at me.
"Jealous." I replied amused.

Like I said. Never boring.
