"Fuck! Fuck everything!" Charles growled as soon as he'd slammed shut the door to his little room in the Ferrari garage. He kicked at a chair and then dropped dramatically on the small couch. He rubbed at his face with both hands, letting out a frustrated sigh before his fingers slid up and tugged on his messy hair.
He was just about to get back up to pace the small room but he heard his phone vibrating on the desk and he lifted his head enough to frown at it. He really didn't have all that much time, he was already expected at the media pen but he had just needed a moment alone to get his emotions in check.
His phone vibrated again and this time he moved, reaching out to grab it and flicked it open to see a couple of new messages from Daniel.
From D❤️
hey
sneak away to have room service with me tonite?
Charles couldn't help the small smile that spread on his lips as he read the messages. He already knew he was going to be overthinking all night about what went wrong and what could possibly go wrong tomorrow. But with Daniel, he'd have a distraction, he might be able to get some sleep even.
To D❤️
sounds lovely
i can try
From D❤️
i'll have a bottle of your favourite wine ready
Charles huffed a laugh at that, feeling lighter than just a minute ago. He ran a hand through his hair again and sent a heart emoji back at the older man before he got up and quickly straightened out his overalls, zipping them back up properly again. Then, after a second of debating, he pocketed his phone and left the room, a team media person already waiting for him just outside to take him to the dreaded media pen.
Two and a half grueling hours later he was finally able to leave the track. A briefing with the team had only reignited his frustration, no one had been able to give him a straight answer yet about what had caused his engine to turn off and having to say 'I don't know' in three different languages had soured his mood even further.
So once he'd been allowed to leave, he only stopped by his own hotel room to drop his bag there, shower and change into comfortable sweatpants and an oversized hoodie before heading to Daniel's room, thankfully, and conveniently, in the same hotel.
He knocked on Daniel's door and only needed to wait for a moment before it opened and he was greeted with Daniel's smiling face.
"Hey...I'm glad you could make it." Daniel said softly, taking Charles' hand to pull him inside and closed the door behind them.
Charles didn't say anything, just tugged on the Australian's hand to spin him around, making Daniel crowd him against the wall. Then he let go, only to wrap both of his arms around Daniel's neck, pulling him even closer.
"Daniel...I..." Charles started, his voice barely above a whisper. His fingers played with the curls at the back of the older man's neck "Please...I need a distraction..."
