I was confused. So very confused. The man in front of me was Hongjoong, the captain of the ship I had somehow made it onto. I tilted my head to see if I could recognize him at all...nothing.
"Alright, I was also told she had injuries. Would anyone like to explain?" he said while looking at Yeosang. The healer looked at me with intense concern and pity. I was so confused. How bad are my injuries? I can't feel them...
"She has intense marks on her neck. Very bruised and red. I think they are rope marks similar to a noose but tied backward. Maybe even in a collar-like fashion," he explained. I quickly moved my hands up to my neck and immediately whimpered. Immense pain shot through the entire upper side of my body. "She also has bruised ribs and one more thing I found as I did an exam."
"Why does it seem you don't want to tell us?" Seonghwa asked as his eyes narrowed slightly.
"It's a bit...intense and confusing. And could only be caused by another person. Meaning none of these injuries were self-inflicted."
"Please tell me..." I softly said, hoping he would listen to my plea. He let out a sigh and finally complied.
"Large, dark bruises on her lower body. Specifically on her lower stomach. One of them as large as a fist, another the size of a boot."
I had no idea what to think. Were these injuries the cause of my amnesia? Trauma or abuse? Who would have caused all those injuries? Were they the reason I snuck onto the ship from my hometown? I had no clue.
"What happened to me?" I muttered.
The captain put his hands on my shoulders in a way to comfort me. I looked at him with tears in my eyes and even he had a deep frown on his face.
"Can I continue asking some questions?" he asked gently. I nod. "Do you know why my name is one of the only things you remember?"
"I wish I could tell you, I do captain," I replied. It was then that I leaned in a bit closer to his face. Close enough to stare into his eyes. Those cocoa-brown eyes that almost seemed...familiar...
My vision went blurry again but not like before. I felt the sensation of being pulled. My vision then cleared and saw a scene play out in front of me, as if looking in from a small distance.
"Are you sure about this, Sunny? I mean, your parents will be pissed when they come back to the docks," exclaimed a young, silver-haired boy. Maybe the age of 18. He had the same cocoa-brown eyes I had just seen.
"I promise. We don't need this ship to get back north. And besides, I can see you again next summer. Just don't forget me, okay Joongie?" a girl responded. I couldn't see her hair or any of her features. I think I may have been too far away for that.
"I'll bring you a new treasure every summer. I promise the Sunrise will always be in perfect shape."
"That's what you should rename it to..the Treasure."
I felt the pulling sensation again and slowly lifted my head which seemed to have dropped. My vision was back to normal but the three men in the room seemed shocked.
"You guys saw that, too, right?" muttered Hongjoong and the other two just nodded. I was confused. What had happened? Hongjoong grabbed my chin once again but was a bit rougher this time. He moved my head from side to side and stared into my eyes. "How did you do that?"
"D-do what?" I asked, slightly scared of the now intimidating captain. He narrowed his eyes as if not believing my confusion.
"Your eyes! How'd you do that thing with your eyes?" he yelled a bit this time. I still hadn't gotten my question answered so I yelled in the same key as him.
"Do what?!"
"(Y/n), your eyes just changed from (e/c) to gold. And they were glowing," Yeosang said while trying to relieve the rising tension in the room. My eyes widened in confusion. My eyes did...what? It was then that the vision I saw popped back into my head. I ripped Hongjoong's hands off me and stared at him with no emotion. Looking up at his blue locks being healed under a simple captain's hat I said only one thing.
"Silver..." Hongjoong's eyebrows raised. I reached up and took off his hat, and he didn't pull away. He wasn't scared or disgusted by the action. I softly ran my fingers through his blue locks. Blue as the shining sea itself. "Your hair is supposed to be silver. Why did it change?"
"That was five years ago..." he muttered.
"You fulfilled Sunny's wish though. The Sunrise of Captain Lee became the Treasure of Captain Kim Hongjoong," His eyes began to fill with tears. "Did you still bring her treasures?" He laughed and nodded his head. "Was she still beautiful?"
He smiled the brightest smile ever, "Just as beautiful as the day we met."
I could easily feel two intense pairs of eyes on us. I wiped his tears and motioned for him to look at his crewmates.
"Well, she's definitely from the South Key Coast. We're four days out but I think we can make a detour. We're currently in no rush," he explained. "Seonghwa, go tell San to change our route back to the coast. I need to prepare for our meeting tonight." Seonghwa nods and leaves the room with a concerned look on his face. No longer for me, but for his beloved captain. The captain put his hands on my shoulders one more time while looking intensely at him as if trying to remember my face himself.
"Who are you?" he muttered.
"I don't know."
