*Sarvin's POV*
It's been about a month (I think..?) since we met our roleswap counterparts. I don't think we will ever run out of alternate universes to visit at this point... We still have the swap genderbent alternate universe, the roleswap genderbent one, then the swap roleswap one, the swap roleswap genderbent one, and a dozen more that don't involve swap roles, personalities, or sex and genders. If we can think of it, it probably is an alternate universe, I guess...
"Sarv, are you okay? You seem deep in thought.", Ruv says, as we sit at the table, eating breakfast.
I snap back to the present. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking about all the alternate universes out there..."
Ruv takes another sip of her morning coffee. "I suggest you don't ponder on it right now... That Fever lady and her boyfriend who called the other day are stopping by soon to drop off their demon pepper child for the day. Я клянусь, that town is just something else..."
"Oh, right!", I say. Like many others, our church offers child care during the day, though we seldom have visitors, much less ones with kids. "What business do they have going on here, though? And how did they find our church's phone number?"
"They told me they're acquainted with the tall, cross-eyed priest, Taki, who held masses the day of the picnic. Боже, it feels like it wasn't that long ago..."
I smile. Come to think of it, Ruv's right; it doesn't feel like the picnic was that long ago...
"Во всяком случае, as I was saying, Taki was talking about us and the church. Fever and her boyfriend have some business with people around here, and they can't bring their pepper kid everywhere. So, they figured they'd drop her off here for the day while they rap-battle or whatever it was."
"How long until they're going to be here?", I ask Ruv.
She looks at her watch, which I got her for our 1st anniversary not too long ago. "An hour, more or less..."
"Gosh, I guess I should get ready then... How old did they say the kid was?"
"5? 6? Something like that."
I groan. "I guess I'll have to toddler-proof everything, too..."
"I'll handle it. You need to get ready."
"Thanks, Ruv.", I say, kissing her on the cheek before I go to our room to get dressed.
Since we've been dating for a little more than a year now, we figured we might as well share a bedroom, and we could use the other bedroom for something else. At the moment, we use Ruv's old room for storage, but we'll figure out what to do with it some time or another. Ruv's probably going to put all of her weapons and whatever else that's dangerous that we have in this old church in there, and lock the door. After all, we don't need an axe-wielding pepper child running around here...
I get dressed while Ruv, as I predicted, is locking things away in the spare bedroom. We do some tidying up, as we always do on the rare occasion that we have visitors. A little later, the demon mayor and her boyfriend arrive with the child.
"Welcome to our church!", I say to them as they approach us at the end of the church aisle.
"Wow, this place is in a lot better shape than the church we have in Fever Town...", the girl with the afro says to her... bunny (?) boyfriend.
I chuckle. "We may not have visitors often, but we try our best to keep our church in shape."
"No, like, the church we have is literally in ruins.", the bunny says.
