Monte Carlo, Monaco
Wealth, class, and beauty were the marks of an elite city, and those were exactly what the hotel, La Rêve spoke of its resident city the moment Megan laid eyes on it.
Situated along the city's coastline, the twelve-storey, beachfront hotel was an icon on its own. With an enormous parking lot that housed cars of values enough to contend with that of the hotel itself one-on-one, a golden lotus fountain in front that gleaned even brighter in the afternoon sunlight, and a restricted gate access that only those with a reservation pass gotten through membership and recommendation channels could obtain, it didn't take powers to see that La Rêve really was a home of the exclusive.
"I've got to say, this is quite a location you've brought us to this time, Meg," Kei said as their blue Cadillac pulled into the front entrance of the hotel, stopping just long enough for the two to disembark with their luggage and the busboy take it from them before driving off to its already allocated parking spot from the gate.
Megan smiled, not responding. She didn't need to actually; the look on the teenage speedster's face was evident that her statement wasn't one looking for a response from her.
The duo proceeded through the revolving doors directly facing the reception desk where a woman, European by her looks, in their late twenties sat behind a computer. "Good afternoon, honourable guests," she said as soon as they reached her, a professional smile immediately on her face. "My name is Anise. Please state your name for the booking."
"Megan Months," she replied, giving her her ID to scan.
"Of course, Miss Months," she said after a look. "The tenth-floor suite is already prepared for your arrival."
Anise made a gesture to another busboy who came over to take their keycard and luggage, but Megan waved away the service.
"No need to bother yourself. We know our way around," she said as she took over the properties herself and walked away with Kei in tow, much to the bewilderment of those at the desk.
The elevator, a transparent glass cylinder, arrived just as they reached the wall at the right side of the reception, the doors opening immediately to admit them in. They pressed the button for the tenth floor and doors slid close before any other person came.
"A suite, huh Meg?" Kei said with an interesting look on her face just as the ride began. "You really aren't holding back on this mission, are you?"
"Well, if you're going to work, you should work in style," she returned, adding a smirk almost reminiscent of the latter for effect.
Just then, Kei's face took on a serious expression. "Speaking of work, you never did tell me who we're here to meet," she said, "and why you needed me to come along for that matter."
"It's an old friend like I said." Megan took a split second to look at the floor number change from seven to eight. "As for the reason I chose you; well, let's just say you're the only one on the team I trust at the moment to help me manage a delicate situation."
"You mean I'm the only one who doesn't dislike you much enough to sabotage you just for the fun of it." She smirked.
"Miss Smarty pants, it's not like you're very popular with the boys yourself right now." She shot the teenage speedster a stern glare. "And I think you'll agree that you're better off here with me than there with their looks."
The elevator came a stop just then with a ding, the glass cylinder making a smooth turn to have the duo facing what was initially their backs at the beginning of the ride. The doors slid open to reveal a rose-coloured, red carpet-decorated hallway.
