IT at a non-busy lawfirm isn't the isn't the job for everyone; but it is mine. I spend most of my time staring at the wall. I let the seconds fade into minutes and the minutes into hours. I've gotten so good at letting my own mind slip that I rarely remember who calls or comes in.
Some people would say I should see a therapist, maybe you could be a sort of therapist for me, an invisible listener that won't raise their eyebrows or widen their eyes when I tell them what happened next. The thing is I don't know if it happened and to be honest it hasn't really stopped yet.

I could have sworn I saw something out of the corner of my eye at the door. A ball of crystal red. The A/C turned on and screamed. After a few seconds it steadied into its usual scratchy lullaby.
I heard a strange wolfish howl curl down the hall.
Maybe someone needed help. My eyes steadied and I crept into the hall, which was illuminated by a single naked bulb on the ceiling leaving room for strange shadows to line the floor.
An office door lay opened. That same red orb met my eye before moving back into the shadowy office. I faced the room dust particles flying chaotically through a weak light made by a crooked lamp on the desk.
A humanoid figure stood beside it, he had curved legs and a coat of fur that shone  like it was fake.
“Would you like to see the truth?” it snarled at me and the vent above me cackled and shook. My spine tingled with fear but my mind was as still and calm as the water in an indoor swimming pool.

“Yes”

“I offer you a door then seeker,” He said with a human hand held up to the wall. His other ‘hand’ well paw lay flat against his hip and it hid sharp curved claws.
A stone doorway filled the middle of the office's side. Sunlight poured through it. I looked back to the wolf who’s clawed feet had made visible scratches on the ground as he walked to my side.

He nodded at me and I felt like taking my shoes off as a leafy smell touched my nostrils. Behind the door was a hallway filled with grass and large rectangular windows without glass. The whole building was made of barky wood as if it had grown out of the very ground. Perhaps it did.
The wolf followed behind, he looked less frightening in the sunlight, or maybe I just told myself that. Maybe he looked more frightening.
That is how my story starts, wherever it was into madness or something else entirely is up to you.
