September 7th - Day 17
"Yes, I've tried turning it off and on again!" You insist, tired of Mr. Oh asking you.
"Shortie. I'm telling you that's the problem. Maybe you're doing it wrong." Mr. Oh suggests.
"How can someone turn a computer off and on wrong!"
"Or...maybe the cable just isn't plugged all the way in." Hongjoong says, pushing the ethernet cable fully into the socket.
"There it is." You say, relieved as the internet connection appears in the corner of the screen. "Okay, what now?"
"Go to 'www dot dropbox dot com.'" We're really using Dropbox for the transfer of a murder confession. "Then hit 'login.' My email is 'dog lover one thousand,' now that's the number, not the word, at AOL dot com."
"I feel like I don't want to know, but your password is?"
"Capital 'O,' 'one true love Rosie,' and Rosie's with a capital 'R,' of course, 'one thousand.'" Your fingers input his password, and seconds later, it goes through. You see the file he's labeled "TOP SECRET," and you click it open. From your own file folder, you drag and drop the mp3 file in.
"Okay. See if you can see it."
"Mark! Would you turn that down, please!" Mr. Oh shouts. "He's been watching HGTV for hours. He keeps going on about how he doesn't have cable at home. Who doesn't have cable?"
"Who still has an AOL email!?" You retort.
"It's a good company! Good rates, too."
"You have to pay for it?" Hongjoong says, looking over to the phone.
"Do you...not...have to pay for yours?"
"No." Hongjoong answers.
"It seems I have been scammed." Mr. Oh sighs.
"Do you see the file?" You ask again.
"I can't believe my eyes." Mr. Oh says, astonished. "There she is...all twenty-nine perfect megabytes of her."
"Did you get in contact with Mr. Jeon?" Hongjoong asks, foot tapping eagerly.
"Yes, Haeji's call worked wonders! Sometimes, all it takes is a beautiful girl to get your way." Mr. Oh answers. "It took him some time, with all the workarounds and whatnot... I don't think his supervisor would approve of what he's doing, but my contact officially has proper jurisdiction over that tiny little island."
"So, we're all set then?" Hongjoong confirms.
"If what you kids told me is true, then I'd say we're ready." You can't help but smile. "Give them a performance of a lifetime." Mr. Oh finishes. You say your goodbyes, for now, hanging up the phone.
"I guess that's it then. Just gotta perfect my lines." Hongjoong says, smiling along with you.
"Hey, can we talk before we go?"
"I was hoping you wouldn't ask me that..."
"You knew it was coming." You reply, and he takes a seat on the desk next to you. "I think you should have this back." You pull the ring off your finger, placing it in his hand.
"You're really doing this, huh?"
"Thank you. For everything."
"Don't mention it. Just glad I could help out." He takes your hand in his, squeezing it tightly before letting it rest on his leg.
"So, what are we gonna do when we can't, you know, do what we usually do when we hang out?" You say.
"Just Dance, probably." You laugh at his comment. "Nah, I've been thinking about it lately. I have a couple museums I wanna show you... There's this fashion exhibit opening in New York that I really want to go to."
