Just the two of us?

Ryan's POV: no school! I'm beyond happy to get a 5 day vacation from this place no teachers no homework just freedom! School let out that Wednesday and I knew I wouldn't have to go back until Tuesday. I walked home ready to fall into my bed and sleep my life away. Once I got home I realized moms car was in the drive way.
I went into the house and dropped my over loaded bookbag on the floor.

Mom: oh good your home

I look at her confused

Ryan: yup schools out. What are you doing here

Mom: I live here Ryan

Ryan: barley! Your never here

Mom: seriously Ryan I'm not here to fight with you.
Mom looked tired like she hadn't slept in a week.

Ryan: then why are you here?

Mom: we'll Ryan I thought you might like a vacation just the two of us.

Ryan: just the two of us?

I hadn't been on a vacation with my mom in a very long time. But moms idea of a vacation was dragging me with her to her business meeting and leaving me at the hotel.

Mom: yes Ry I know we haven't spent a lot of time together so I thought this long weekend we would spend it together. How does New York sound?

Ryan: sounds...good mom

I saw the relived look mom gave. I guess she was expecting an attitude or a harsh comment.

Mom: great! We'll pack a suitcase the car will be here in an hour.

I ran upstairs packing a suitcase probably over packed a little but who  cares it's New York I has to make sure I had everything I needed!

About an hour later the car was here and I put my suitcase in

Ryan: ready mom!
I said grinning I was just so excited to be spending time with my mom that's all I ever wanted was just some time with her. I felt like such a burden to her and this trip might let her see I love her and just want her to be there for me.

Just then. Another car pulled up, I looked to see who got out and it was a man and a girl. she looked to be around my age. Mom ran up to the guy I recognized as her business partner Kenny. she hugged him

Mom: oh I'm so glad you could join us!

Join us? I should have known mom didn't want to spend time with me and I was stupid for thinking such a thing.

Mom: Kenny you know my daughter Ryan?

Kenny: of course how are you Ryan?

Ryan: I'm doing quite we'll Kenny May I ask why you are here?

Mom: Ryan!

Kenny: it's fine Melanie, I'm here because we're all going to New York. This is my daughter Kendall she's About the same age as you.

Ryan: that's nice and all but this trip was just supposed to be me and my mom

Kendall: yeah dad you never said anyone else was coming!

I guess I wasn't the only person deceived by her parent.

Mom: girls this trip would be much more fun if we all go.

I shrugged my shoulders fine mom wanted to have her fun while on this trip. We'll I would plan my own fun
without her too.
